Remembering a friend

I know my most recent post was about my friend's lung cancer diagnosis... and unfortunately I write this post to tell you that my friend passed away on March 21st on account of the COPD and Lung cancer that she had. I know it's been more than 3 weeks but I'm still just shocked.
Rationally my brain knows that she is not hurting, she is in a better place and that her soul goes on... but my heart isn't ready to accept that yet.
I considered her my closest friend and confidant .... and while this doesn't change a close friendship, or in other words I'm still her friend and she, mine - on whatever realm she is in now.... she isn't here physically to have late night conversations and adventures with. There will be a party for her on May 1st - this was as per her wishes.
I have felt mostly like sleeping for this past time and I suppose that is depression ... I'm trying to not fall off into the black hole of depression completely . And it's shock too.
I'm sure I will post much more about her, as writing helps me to process.
Thank you all for reading

@FayeHazel it is okay to grieve but learn and know what your friend will think if you have been sad all these time

Thanks for the kindness. I know she wouldn't want me to be sad, still though....

Am so sorry for your loss and I know how hard and sad it is to lose a loved one. My deepest condolences. May you be filled with strength and peace from above and may she dance with the angels.

@Laurakemunto Yes, I believe so. She is still my close friend, even if she is "there" and I'm here.... I'll see her again

Thank you... I agree, the comfort in this is that at least she didn't suffer more...

You're griving and it's a process. Telling yourself you'll be over it, won't help you heal. You need to do that on your own time.
That being said, I wish you the best of luck and am sorry for your loss.

Thank you so much... that helps, grief will be done with me when it's done I guess as much as I wish I could speed this up

Thanks Ron - I wish it didn't take this much time to sort out, but true and thanks, it does help to be thankful for those happy memories

Thanks... like you say , there's not many positives to this other than, maybe - that it went quickly at least she isn't suffering.... but that's about it

@porwest SO true there... Like with a pet - we want them to pull through and stay with us, but sometimes it becomes evident that there is one painful and right thing to do

@FayeHazel No one wants anyone to suffer, that's for sure.
