Anyone familiar with chicken katsu? Chicken katsu or chicken cutlet is basically flatten chicken coated with breadcrumbs before deep fry. Of course it's more complicated than that instead of just coating it. I found the frozen one the other day. 4 pieces for RM18. But it's a spicy version therefore Lil Bro might not like it. I usually eat it at sushi restaurant so I never make one myself. But I'm not interested with dining in anywhere at this moment, why not try making my own. Here I am trying to learn the recipe
You only need 6 easy ingredients to make homemade chicken katsu, also called panko chicken, Japanese fried chicken, etc. I even tossed in a homemade tonkatsu...

Do you eat it with sauce? The original recipe add tonkatsu sauce to it.

@prinzcy No, I usually don’t use sauce if it’s just for us.

Oh, that's new. You mean ground chicken? Will it be like patty then?

Good luck, katsu is delicious. But the sauce also makes it better

I'm still trying to figure out the easiest sauce. Worcestershire sauce is quite expensive and I won't be using it a lot.

I want to try making them first. I already bought bread crumbs. Chicken will be part of the wet market's grocery list.

@prinzcy That's a brilliant idea. Bread crumbs can make it tastier

I've tried my own chicken pieces in what I thought was spicy breadcrumbs but it wasn't spicy after all.. I think that most chicken that is fried at home here is breaded unless someone is dieting then they might leave of the breadcrumbs. I found a low carb bread crumbs mix that's also paleo and tasty.

I bought breadcrumbs. Not sure whether this one is low carb or not. But I think most likely it's not.

I'm not keen on chicken katsu but it's OK. My sons like it. I've never made it. Perhaps I'll try. I do enjoy cooking.

You're welcome. I need to figure something out for the sauce. Not interested to buy Worcestershire sauce.
