Do you know the proper jogging form?

I watched a small clip earlier and will watch more as well. Walking just isn't cutting it for me anymore. I'm not burning enough calories, my heart rate isn't getting up there like it once was. I'm going to start jogging and seeing how that does for me. If that doesn't work, or if it stop working, I'll increase from there. Maybe I'll even get a gym membership one day. The closest gym is $32.99 a month. The Cheapest is $10 but it's in an inconvenient area. So, do you know the proper jogging form?

Can't say that I do. You could increase the length of your walks..when I do it, it is like an hour at a time over 2 miles.

Mine have been around 45 minutes to 50 minutes. Even when I was walking an hour, it just wasn't getting much better results. I walk in the morning and then want to get back inside and get started on my day. Maybe I could jog in the AM and walk in the PM.

@ScribbledAdNauseum That might work.

@snowy22315 It is worth a try anyway. Yesterday I ate a lot more than I usually do too. I'm not a snacker unless I am in company.

I have no idea. My proper jogging form is to walk. But, my legs, knees, ankles and feet aren't able to jog anymore.

I'm trying to keep my knees as in shape as I can. Knee problems run in the family and I did some damage to them when I was a stock clerk.

@Chellezhere Ouch. That has to be unbearable, especially on cold or rainy days.

@ScribbledAdNauseum It's the same on both sides of my family. My knees started giving me trouble nearly 40 years ago when I was still a teen. Now, they have no cartilage.

I do not like it either, but I know it will increase my heart rate and help me lose weight.

@rakski I don't know the exact number, but I think somewhere around 25-30 lbs. I would like to lose 20 more lbs. If I lose 20 more lbs, I will be at the recommended BMI for my age and height.

@ScribbledAdNauseum may I ask how much you already lose since you started?

Nor Have I. I used to love skipping, but that was many years ago as a child.

@CarolDM We used to have field days where skipping was the main objective of the games. Way back in elementary school.

It takes more than exercises to lose weight. You need to find a balance of calories burned vs those taken in. Bare in mind, the body treats all food the same. It doesn't know the difference between good and bad. It's designed to break down food in the same way. If you want to keep your body guessing, there's a lot of free aps that you can download that offer that can be done at home with just a yoga mat or space in your living room.

I used to walk quickly, but my body has become accustomed to walking slower on these paths. This is why I now jog.

I increase the speed when I walk, but I will never go jogging, it's just not a healthy exercise.

I don't know the proper jogging form. I can't lift my knees high enough for jogging. I am pleased when I walk a couple of blocks.

No, I don’t know the proper form of jogging. I easily stumble on my feet that is why I don’t jog.

I am very clumsy too, but I tried anyway. I need to pick my feet up more when I jog.

@thelme55 A friend of mine is taking work out classes now. Her trainer has her doing High Intensity Interval Training and it's really hard for her, but she believe she'll see results. This weekend I will be going to a lake. I am not sure if there are walking paths around this area of the lake, but if so, I will be using them.

@ladyhero Yes. The man said to lift the legs, to not focus on the distance but on the endurance. Jogging fast isn't the aim, it's jogging at all that we should strive to do.
