The stars continue to align

We have sold our house and will be moving soon. On the weekend, we attended two car boot sales and were able to offload quite a number of items from our house and sheds. We were very pleased with the results.
On Sunday, the sale was held in the town hall carpark, next to the Anglican Church. The op shop at the church was open for the day and doing a roaring trade. Towards the end of the sale, we took some bed linen and hand towels that hadn’t sold and gave them to the op shop.
Yesterday, after the boot sale, the new owners visited with a building inspector and Vince was able to explain the reticulation, etc. They are lovely people and thrilled to be moving here. They are very happy and I’m pretty sad so I guess it’s a good balance.
They are buying quite a few small items of furniture which is great for us but they didn’t want the big three-piece leather lounge or the lovely dining room suite which is too big for us to keep. However, as we were having a slightly heated discussion about whether to try to sell it locally or to take it with us, we had a message to say they’d like to take the lounge after all. So how about that? Maybe we need to give the stars a bit more time to align.
Today we’ve started the final clean-out of the shed big and have lit the bonfire as we're allowed to burn here now. We had our fire-fighting unit nearby in case the fire got away from us.
The photo is of today’s fire after it had burnt down.

@LadyDuck I have been checking out Ikea to get an idea of prices. We are going to get a lounge which converts to a bed for one bedroom. We want to put the piano in there but don't want a full-sized bed as well. We are not likely to have many guests staying overnight so we thought a sofa bed might be the answer.

Things are moving along good. You could just leave the dining room suite as a house warming gift for them. Leave a little note on it welcoming them to their new home.

ok first your accounting so far has been very entertaining!
It is funny i do recall when we left Indiana. we were traveling across 1/2 the US and decided to sell a lot of things first. Funny in the end but you are right there is a certain bittersweet reality of change like that.

Yes first you need to focus on your movement.
I read that air travel has started between Australia and New Zealand.

One case is manageable. Yet if more cases start coming up, then it is an issue.

@JudyEv - I am so happy that everything is going well and that the new buyers decided to take the leather lounge. That makes things a little easier for you. Is there a consignment shop or some place where you can sell the dining room suite? It sounds like that is the last major item you need to get rid of. When is your moving date?

@JudyEv - How exciting! You will be moving in about 5 weeks. That gives you plenty of time to pack up the things you want to take and prepare for the move!

If necessary, we'll take the dining suite with us and sell it from the new place. City people often won't be bothered travelling to the country to buy stuff. I have two antique pieces to sell but, again, if they don't sell here, we'll take them to Perth. We settle on or about 26th May and move probably the next day. We're meeting the settlement agent tomorrow.

Now you will begin a new chapter to your life. I hope it will be a good one.Congrats on selling stuff. You were there many years so it is hard to leave behind your home and go to another one. That is great how it worked out in the end and that they decided after all to take the lounge. It is exciting to start over and scary at the same time. Good luck.

! It's a huge task to disperse all the things that will not be going with you, but it's all moving along quite well.
