This Past Week Has Been A Doozy.

Hey there, everyone. I know I’ve been MIA for quite a bit, but this past week has been a doozy, just as it states in the title of this post. It's going to be a lengthy post, but there's a lot to share.
My Mom wasn’t feeling well last week, which caused her to get dizzy as she was coming down the stairs. She called for me and I told her to sit down, but she passed out and fell down half the stairs as I was entering the hallway. Yeah, watching your Mom fall down the stairs sucks, by the way. She regained consciousness, and long story short, she went to the hospital to check for a concussion. No concussion, but low blood pressure, which can cause lightheadedness, nausea and passing out.
They kept her and sent her home on Sunday, but she didn’t have much of an appetite. We did what we could to take care of her Sunday and Monday (including walking her up and down the stairs as needed), and Tuesday was a doctor’s appointment with her primary provider. He sent her right back to the hospital, only this time she went to the one her cardiologist is on the staff. They kept her from Tuesday through Thursday, and she came home Thursday evening. Personally, I didn’t notice much of a change. She was still feeling icky and not eating as much, and still lightheaded and weak.
So, my sisters took her to the cardiologist (younger sister scheduled the appointment that morning) yesterday. Basically, she's on medication for her afib, which was diagnosed and treated (well, prescription she still takes), and her body needs time to adjust to it (as well as other changes to her meds).
Today she's doing better. She ate a little throughout the day, has been drinking water with electrolytes (and Ginger Ale) and has been more chatty. She even walked across the living room (with me) to see my niece's puzzle. We watched Annabelle Creation earlier, and she just finished watching Godzilla vs. Kong on HBO Max with my brother-in-law. She's still recovering from everything, but there's a bit of a difference between Thursday/Friday and today. Like, she's a bit more of herself and has a small appetite.
We still have to help her with things, including her meds, blood pressure (she has something to check it), food, using the stairs, etc., and she'll see her cardiologist in two weeks, and her primary provider whenever that appointment is made (my younger sister handles it since she's usually her mode of transportation). But we have Mommy's back, of course.
With her doing better today, I'm doing a little better today. I was able to start on a Fiverr order that's due on Monday (unfortunately, I haven't worked all week), and I'm calmer. My nerves were especially shot on Thursday evening and Friday. Hopefully, she'll be doing even better tomorrow, and a little each day.
But yeah, that's why I haven't been around. I'll post when I can but obviously my mind is elsewhere. I just thought I'd post tonight. As for the notifications, I may just have to let them go this time around and get to them another time, I'm sorry. If anyone had anything important to share/ask from previous posts, you can reach out if you want.
Anyway, I'm going to bed. It's been a tiring week and I don't stay up super late anymore. G'night or good morning, stay safe and take care.

I'm glad to hear that your mother is better. It does take time to adjust to the medicine. My mother also has afib and she has those spells every now and then. One fall caused a concussion and she had to have her head stitched up. She just got dizzy, blacked out and fell while walking.

@tammys85 She recovered from that fall but her ALZ got much worse. After a hospital stay for high blood pressure the doctor recommended a nursing home for her and that is what we did. She has had a couple of falls at the nursing home but easier for her to get to the bathroom, etc. there.

Since his stroke four years ago, hubby has afib. He has meds and a pacemaker defibrillator. He does not get dizzy very often. I hope things stabilize for your mom.

I'm so sorry he has afib, but I'm glad he doesn't get dizzy often. My Mom had a defibrillator put in years ago. She's dealing with hypotension (low blood pressure, mainly when she stands) and afib, and she's a heart patient, but her cardiologist is working with her to get her on the right track. Thank you so much.
