Had to bring in my plants and pots

The maintenance men came around with notices letting us know that they were coming around to inspect the sprinklers in apartments and to dispose of anything that is out on the landing. We aren't supposed to have anything out there. I have a few Mexican and Mexican-inspired pots outside the door. My second mom also gave me kits for curly parsley and cilantro so I had them out there too. My mother gave me a pretty pot with a white azalea in it for Easter. That was the only flower out there since it is still a little early for flowers here. Anyway it looked pretty and made the doorway look homey. Well not any longer. Everything is crammed on the table in the front window until they get done with their inspection. Then everything is going right back outside. It isn't like I leave garbage out there. It looks nice.

It seems that rules are constantly changing in apartment complexes. At least they do where my sister lives. Is it possible that having things on the landing would interfere with evacuation in case of a fire or other disaster? That is the only reason I can imagine for a rule like that.

I could see if you have a ton of tables and chairs and stuff out there but I don't see how a pot of flowers is going to hurt anyone.

I don't blame you. When I lived in apartments, as long as you weren't blocking a walking path, you could put whatever you wanted outside. At least you had a heads-up to move your stuff.

At least they gave everyone a heads up.

I hope they leave your doorway garden alone when you put it back.
