Okra.

Have you eaten okra before? How do you prepare them? I like eating them but I haven't eaten them since the pandemic. That is technically more than a year now. Okra is sweet with rice. You can eat with other meal too. I always prepare them, wash them, fry the onions, then tomatoes and then okra. Then I add some water for soup and some salt. I have ever tried with parsley included. Okra is sweet and the soup always looks thick and a little slippery.

Fried okra yes that’s the only way I’ve ever eaten them and I don’t eat them often since they are a southern thing and I don’t cook souther style.

@mildredtabitha in the US it’s more of a souther state food not common to the other area of the US. It can be found in certain restaurants or in the stores but I don’t deal with them. My parents grew up in the south so for them it was a typical thing to have to eat.

It's a very popular vegetable in India. We call it ladies finger or bhindi in Hindi. We have few recipes for it..bhindi fry, bhindi masala, bhindi do pyasa( with lots of onions) etc. Most people like it.

@CarolDM Ooh, I've been eating them for a long time but I didn't think it was a type of vegetable I thought it's like tomato, some say it's a fruit and some say it's vegetable

I would usually make okra tempura. Just fry the whole okra with tempura batter. I saw a recipe using bonito flakes the other day. I don't have that though.

Oh, yuck! I can't stand okra! My mom always tried to force us kids to eat some of everything she cooked for a meal but okra always made me feel sick. I always gave mine to the dogs under the table until she caught me one day and made me eat a bite. I threw up on the table so nobody would eat after that. Dad made her quit forcing us to "just take a bite, you might like it this time". I don't even like to smell it cooking.

@mildredtabitha A lot of people tell me they like the stories I tell in my responses on myLot. I take teasing very well and I tease a lot on this site. It's a fun and harmless way to make money and friends here.

We grow okra in our garden and love it fried, coated in yellow corn meal. Not fond of it any other way, though.

I have to have these batter fried. Otherwise they are always just way too slimy for me. They taste fine, but the texture is something I just can't do.

I know that. My mom and dad are always dipping okra in their drinks. And then their drinks would become slimy. They often drink it because it is good for health. But i don't like it

Do they use raw okra in the drink then eat the raw okra? Try the cooked one, you might not like it but love it!
