Flatualation, passing gas, cutting wind, all comes down to intestinal gas expelled by the body. Here are some facts about (excuse the expression) farting:
* People fart about 25 times a day. Any time of the day or night. We even fart while we are asleep.
* We expel enough gas in a year (between 48 and 145 liters per year). That is about .13 to .39 liters per day.
* Only about 1% of these smell. Hydrogen sulfide is what is responsible for the bad smell. Scientists suspect that hydrogen sulfide could help to reduce our risk of heart attacks, stroke, and cancer.
* Flatulation actually occurs about six to eight hours after eating. So this may account for the odd hours.
* Expelling gas is normal in pregnancy because the increased hormone levels slow down the gastrointestinal tract.
NOTE: Frequent bloating and gas can be possible symptoms of colon cancer.

@celticeagle A fart is a fiery explosion that erupts from the planet of bum; it travels around the top of the leg and comes out with a musical hum. There is so much to be said about farting, a pleasure that just keeps on giving.
