Male Cardinal in the Yard

Was looking out the patio doors just now, looking for birds. Had my phone in my hand. And all of a sudden a male cardinal landed in the yard, beside a pine tree. I snapped some photos, but not very good with my phone so far away. I knew these cardinals were out and about in the yard. Probably building a nest. I can hear the male singing every day. They are good at hiding their nests. I hope to get lucky and find one. They are beautiful birds. They were my Dad's favorites. He called them red birds. The male is a bright red, the female a duller reddish brown. Always feel his presence when I see a cardinal. Good memories.

Hmm... were you aware that, when you're getting ready to take a photo, you can put two fingers around the target and widen your fingers to get a closer shot of your target?

Thank you!, I was behind the patio doors. I have used that tip before. Depends on where you are with your camera. I was too far away with my phone. My other camera would have worked better but I didn't have time to grab it.

@CarolDM You are quite an explorer I bet you will find the nest. I can see him in the picture. I know it is hard to take pictures that are far away on the phone but surprising they can turn out good.
