Do You Wish to Change your name?

How do you like the name being given to you? If you were given the chance to change it, would you do it and what name would you give yourself instead? It is funny that sometimes I get to encounter funny names given to children now a days. Parents should be responsible enough from the very start when it comes to their children. As parents we should think of a decent name that we can give our children and that thinking should also give considerations on how they would love it and accept it. My parents gave me a nice name. According to my mom, the attending physician during the time she gave birth to me added another name to the original one they gave me. It actually sounded good and I never have plans of changing them. Although some of my siblings teased me because according to some origin, my name means “charity.” They told me that it’s the opposite because they do not consider me a generous person! Now that I have kids, my husband and I made sure that they would also love their name. My hubby does not want 2 names or even long ones because he considered the time when kids were going to school. He did not want his children to be left behind in class just because they could not finish writing a long name we gave. All of us starts with a letter “C,” and that is the family’s trademark! What about you? Care to share some history of your name? (my bitmoji collection)

I'm thinking of changing my name by deed poll! Probably going to add a middle name!

By cherigucchi @cherigucchi I was born with many names. I was born with a Hebrew name and a Yiddish one to go along with my Hebrew one and then English names. I felt it was a bit too much for a kid to have all those names. When I came to live in Israel over 34 years ago I still used my English name and when I decided to use a shorter version of my Hebrew name I had to think who knew what name. Now I only have two names and am happy about that.

@cherigucchi I did not like many names when I was a kid. I prefer two names and that is short and sweet for me.

I consider adding my name so that it will become two but I did not push it. I had the chance to change it when I request for a correction an erroneous entry in my middle name. I spend money for the correction. Not that big but the waiting was over a year before the annotation appeared in the PSA authenticated birth certificate. It would be a burden to a child to write long name and hard to spell name. It was reported recently on TV the name of all consonant letters name of a child.

That is true. It is a very long and agonizing process plus the time, effort and money involved.

I like my name, but if I can change it I'd like to add a last name to my name. My name is too short.

I love my name (ANNA), my father was the one who decided for my name and this is a good reason enough not to want to change it.

We are all Js in the family, except my mother. But it was not the trademark going down to my siblings' names. They did not follow the letter J.

Interesting post! I agree names should be easy to spell and pronounce. I like family names..our son has my father's first name and my husband's middle name. I have my great great grandmother's middle name.
