Made a student loan payment

Yup. I have been working full-time for 20 years and I still owe $4000+ in student loans. The requirement to resume repaying them (to the government) was suspended back last spring when the whole COVID thing hit. It was November. Then they moved it to January. Now it is to this November. I still have been repaying each month. I want to get that monkey off of my back. The payment is like $83 per month but I pay $100 every time. This thing will never go away. So anyway I don't technically have to pay it this month but I did. Ugh. I just want to get rid of it.

Oh! It's better to get rid off any loan. The sooner the better. From last few months, we feel a sigh of relief. We paid all our pending loans in January. And we feel that it's a big load off our head and shoulders.

@popciclecold It is. Now we don't owe any money to any financial institution. And we can afford to take some loan in future if we ever need to. A good part of our monthly income was going to pay loans. Now we can save more.

It's like our mortage. Even if we were offered a break due to COVID, we decided to continue paying it each month. Same with our credit card bills and everything else. Only breaks we've accepted were when the companies, themselves, offered them. Like when our water department decided to give us a month of free water and only charged us for the trash recycling and taxes.

Yes, it is better to get rid of it. Time will fly and one day, you don’t have today anymore.

For how long was it supposed to go on in the first place? What was the loan amount that you took? At this rate, it's gonna take you another 3.5 years to clear them.

I don't really blame you. I have always heard about, how hard it is to pay off student loans.

I feel the same way towards my loans. I pay extra each month and the extra goes against the principal.

My daughter-in-law is doing the same thing, she continues to pay off her student loan. And Kris has been teaching 6-7-8th graders for over twenty years! Those colleges are syphoning students for years, like bandits!

@NJChicaa Good luck and it sounds like you really are getting it paid off with paying more than you have to. I do not blame you for wanting to finish with it.

I hate owing money. I'd be paying extra too.
