Is that the right spelling for a little girl's name?
Anyway, Aditi has said "Hi Horse!" and waved at me since she was in pampers.
She is a part of the Indian Children's Mafia at my apartment complex. She is so cute I could eat her up, to quote Maurice Sandak in Where the Wild Things Are.
She is a younger friend to Astik, who in turn looked up to Horse Jr. before Horse Jr. moved to N. Carolina. I think Aditi is a late 3-year-old. (Astik is now six.) But her language and focus make me think she could be a young four.
In any case, I was napping by the pool today when I heard "Hi Horse!" I think I was actually in a dream. I recognized her little voice and said, "Is that Aditi?"
She and I wound up playing "Does a leaf float?" together for more than an hour, with out feet in the pool. Her mommy and I taught her not to pick too many leaves, as "leaves are how plants get energy from the sun"
Then Astik and his daddy showed up. It was on. I went home and got a Horse Jr. raft and some corks (for some reason, I have many wine corks here) and we did experiments about what floats, what sinks (I had found some rocks), and can we make currents to get floating objects to go where we want them to.
I am proud to be President of India, even if @Vandana7 says I'm just a hen-pecked husband to everyone.
These kids are a delight. And yes, I miss Horse Jr.

That was some good time with those kids. I remember doing this float and sink game with my daughters in our bathtub when they were young. Have done it in my Montessori environment too a few times and children enjoy it
Aditi is a Hindi name meaning Goddess of earth/ earth/ Goddess of abundance, creativity.
Astik means a firm believer in Almighty.
So next time you can play a game around meanings of their names.
Vanny has her own reasons to have her opinion about youBut I bet children like you a lot and you are good with them.

@TheHorse That's good that you have someone interested there to have such conversation. Sasanka means moon.

What do you know, I plan to bake a cake on this hot sweating summer day because my Prince charming and Princess are around. The last time (actually before aunt's birthday), I did send cake across, and princess liked it so much that she did not let her brother get even a piece. I don't want war this time on my hand. It is, after all, just a cake. I don't want to risk baking larger amount too. I am an UNDERCONFIDENT person. I expect fervent prayers from you. You are my only enemy for now.

Does this float was one of my favorite games with my kids. We had a pond in our backyard and used to spend hours determining what would float and why!

@TheHorse I argued for a year that starting kids on science was a great way to teach reading, math, writing and so on.
My principal said nope.
I did it anyway! 14 of 21 kids that failed the first grade test, blew up the 2nd grade test after a year in my class!
