A million thanks to @Dena91 for suggesting that I do a Motown countdown. What great songs in their vast catalog!! And, although the various favorites list is winding down there’s more to be had, with ten favorites by Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye coming later! Meanwhile, here’s today’s great Motown classic from my list. #2: Heat Wave - Martha and the Vandellas Not exactly the ballad that yesterday’s song was, is it!! What a fun song. Even Linda Ronstadt’s cover in the 70s kept that high energy. It’s definitely a crank-it-up-and-sing-along song. Martha Reeves will be 80 in a couple of months. The songs are as young as ever. Heat Wave Written by Holland/Dozier/Holland Recorded by Martha and the Vandellas From Heat Wave, 1963 Yeah yeah, yeah yeah!
This song by "Martha Reeves & The Vandellas" was released i believe in 1963 and is just one of many great songs they did.

Living within the area close enough to enjoy listening to the Detroit radio stations, I hope that you will do an entire countdown to the many musicians, not all of which were the Motown sound, from that area. You know I'm alluding to my fav Bob Seger, who had such a great voice back in the day when he was still cranking out the new stuff. Hint hint hint

@marlina He wasn't a huge name even in his own country, but we lived within an hour of Cobo, which was where I saw him perform in the 1980. He also played the Ex that same year in Toronto. He put on a much better show at Cobo, on his 'home turf' then he did at the TO EX.

The main cover version of this that I know is Linda Ronstadt’s rendition.

These songs are timeless, unlike the music of today.

I'd like to be in a heat wave right about now. It's much too cold for May.

Linda's version was excellent. She learned will from this girl group Hall of Famers! You could feel "the temperature rising in this tune." That's some passionate love

I remember having a lot of fun walking with a dear friend on the summer streets of NYC singing loudly Heat wave and getting dirty looks for others
