Trouble finding a place to eat on Saturday

Saturday night we decided to go out to eat as usual. Hubby suggested a gastropub nearby. I didn't really wanna go there and told him I wanna go to a restaurant that serves Russian, Armenian, and Mediterranean food. He agreed. I was really looking forward to eating there, however, that didn't happen. When we got to the restaurant it was closed for a private party. Bummer. Now, we had to try a different place. We went to a restaurant that serves Turkish and Mediterranean food. It was packed. We waited until someone came up to us. When a lady finally approached she told us that there are no empty tables and that the wait would be at least 45 minutes. I didn't want to wait that long so we left. I decided to take a chance on a new pizza place across the street from that restaurant. We've been to a few different locations of it and it was really good. Looking through the windows we could see that it was packed and there were people waiting for a table so we didn't even go in. For the fourth attempt, I called another Turkish place not far from where we were and asked if they had a table available for two people. I was told that they were all booked. I could come in and put my name on the waitlist if I wanted. I decided not to do that, especially since they couldn't tell me how long the wait would be. As a last resort, we decided to go to the gastropub hubby had initially suggested. We called and they said they had tables available. We drove there and only had to wait a few minutes to get seated. We ordered French onion soup, pastrami egg rolls, and tortellini 5-cheese mac-n-cheese. And we had churros with chocolate sauce for dessert. Hubby ordered port wine to go with it. I ordered cranberry juice and hubby ordered a beer. I wasn't a fan of my cranberry juice. It was very sweet and watered down. Not worth $3. But I am glad it didn't cost more than that. Everything else was delicious. The total came to about $74. They add on a 4% fee if you pay with the card and when you get your bill they tell you what that amount will be, along with the new total. For us, it would be about $76. Hubby had cash so he decided to pay with cash to avoid the 4% fee. When we got our change back I noticed that she did not take off the 4% fee. I wasn't gonna let it go so told hubby to tell the waiter and we got $2 back. Aside from that, I am definitely planning on going back there in the future as the food was great and so was the atmosphere and vibe of the place. And as for Saturday dining out goes, since restaurants seem to be packed I think it is a good idea to make a reservation and ahead of time. I don't want to be driving around looking for a place to eat that has a table available.

I'm glad you finally found a place to eat. Restaurants have become very busy with the easing of restrictions. We wanted to go to Texas Roadhouse after my doctor's appointment the week before last; and there was a wait of 25 minutes. This was at 3:30 in the afternoon!

Saturday nights are always the busiest, it's a good idea to make an advanced booking. But this is supposed to be still pandemic time so do you mean people still go out and dine in restaurant?

Saturdays around here are next to impossible, to get a table without waiting a long time.
