Good morning from this side of the planet. It's 10:45 AM as I write this post. It's time for my mid morning fruit snack and today I have juicy juicy watermelon. It's in season and super yummy! We get watermelon throughout year but what we get during the season is really delicious! And I always prefer seasonal and local fruits. My garden is uncared for since a month or more. I am still going slow after recovering from the virus and an exhaustive work like gardening is definitely not on the list for now. The weeds are flourishing and many weeds have bloomed after few showers in last two weeks. And trust me, right now I have more weeds than the planted plants. It's lush green in the garden after few rain showers and it really looks like uncared for natural beauty And some strong plants like all hibiscus are doing good, roses are throwing tantrums for immediate action and jasmine has grown like a wild bush with plenty blossoms. Many carrot seeds have died as I could not repot them and give them enough space. Few have survived and I might get few carrots in other two weeks. Husband has harvested spinach and amaranthus few times last month and now those pots are empty and full of lush green grass. And today I harvested these tomatoes that you can see in the picture. There are many more green ones that would be ready for harvest in couple of days. So my garden always makes me happy Now after some mylotting I will enter my kitchen to make lunch. And these tomatoes will be used for making spicy tomato rasam( A soupy South Indian delicacy to go with hot rice). Let me now catch up with some new posts here. Have a good time in your mylot corner

Good Morning dear Arunima! From your discussion it looks that you have suffered from the Viral infection! Was that simple Viral fever or Covid 19? There are lot of cases of Covid 19 in Bangalore!

Good morning. Good to see you after a long time.I got covid last month. There was teachers meeting on 6 April before summer vacation. So it was in a hall with covid norm. Few of us got infected there. I got only severe headache and no other symptoms. Got isolated in time and so younger daughter and husband came out negative. Elder one got mild symptoms after few days and was positive. We both have recovered well in home isolation. But yes a complete recovery in terms of energy takes a little longer. Hope to see you more here.

@AKRao24 Elder one is doing good. She had mild cough that lasted for ten days. We both have to take care till we get the energy back I was waiting for it to open for below 45. I am still a little shy from 45. Husband had booked his appointment. But I got covid on the day before and our house got quarantined. He had to cancel. Now he plans to book it by next week. I have to wait till June as per my doctor.

@just4him Yes, it would be especially when the weeds have grown well and strong. Digging them out and throwing them, preparing the soil, sowing new seeds...all that would be a hell lot of work. That has to wait at least for a month or more.

I would agree there. These plants have given few rounds of bounty produce and still I can have few harvested in next week. But most part of these plants are dried and soon I need to start with new seeds. Well, that will have to wait till I get enough strength for gardening work. I love tomatoes on sandwiches. But these ones are local one which are very sour and tangy and not suitable for sandwiches. They are good for curries and some other Indian preparations that need that sourness and tangy flavour. We use other hybrid variety for sandwiches.

Your tomatoes look delicious and nothing is better than home grown. When I was growing up we had tomatoes from the garden and would eat them on a sandwich. As you get your strength back I'm sure you'll get your garden under control. In the meantime, don't tire yourself. I love watermelon in the summer...it's always so sweet and juicy.

It's the season of melons, jamun ( indian blackberry) and mangoes here. Market is flooded with them and so a right time to enjoy these seasonal fruits. Soon we will have litchi. Litchi stays for couple of weeks only and magoes for few months. So we enjoy them as much as we can. I like tomatoes on sandwiches. We use other variety for salads and sandwiches. This one is a local variety and is very sour and tangy. It's more suited for certain Indian recipes. Yes. Right now I am just enjoying the lush green garden. It's more lush green because showers have been a blessing for weeds.

Well, garden is a mess but with no care and frequent showers, it's a blessing for the weeds Glad that some vegetables are still doing good despite of no care. We too enjoy fresh tomatoes as salad but there is a different variety of tomato for that. This is a local variety and is too sour and tangy. More suited for curries and such preparations.

To grow vegetables in our own garden has its own charm. I understand that due to after affects of Carona you are still weak to go to the garden. Hope you will be better soon. I hope that your home grown tomatoes would have given you tasty 'Rasam. and all would have enjoyed it and it would have provided you enough Vitamin C also, which is need of the hour. I have a terrace garden which has some plants of green chilies, coriander and mint.

Mint leaves
@arunima25 Glad you like the chilly plant. I have few more in the garden. Even mint plant is there, which gives you fresh mint for green chutney. You are right that it is really therapeutic to get involved in gardening and taking care of your plants. Lockdown has confined ourselves to our houses and our plants are big source of inspiration. It is good to hear that by watching you tube videos on gardening, you acquired lots of knowledge on gardening and you became a professional. I understand that weakness is still there and you have to strictly abide by Doctor's advice. One of my friends who suffered carona, has also lost weight, which means that the virus affects a person badly and due to loss of appetite, one loses weight. Be hopeful, if you keep taking your regular nutritious diet, you will be back to normal and would gain the require weight. It is wiser on your part that you are continuing with your Yoga and pranayam to keep yourself fit. Have a nice day! (here is a picture of mint plant).

@dpk262006 That's healthy mint plant. Mint in my garden is also flourishing especially after the showers in last few days. I like this plant. Grows well without much care. Though I am not feeling that weak, I will not take any risk with exhaustive work. And gardening is a strict no. I have not taken any steroids or unnecessary antibiotics. I am diabetic and post corona my sugars show a little rise but not alarming. My doctor says that it very common in diabetic patients and soon it should come down. But I need to keep a watch on sugar levels. And gardening is strictly prohibited for diabetics in post covid recovery especially if one has been on steroids or oxygen support. Gardening increases the risk of black fungus. So that's one thing off my list for few months at least till June end.

That's a healthy chilli plant with a good number of chillies there. . If you like gardening, it is the best way to keep yourself engaged. I always found it therapeutic. And in last one year of house arrest, it has kept me sane. Since my gardener left after the last year lockdown and is still to come back, I became a pro in gardening doing all on my own. And watching a lots of YouTube channels for gardening. I found it so satisfying. I am quite well now. But my doctor is very particular about no extra sterneoue work for couple of months. Have lost some weight and gaining weight is a big challenge for me. I was always on thineer side and now I am below the ideal weight. Thougn I had no symptoms other than severe headache and fatigue for few days, I can feel that the virus does something mysterious to your body. Yes, we need to invest a lot in health and immunity right now. I am thankful that I always did that and thta's why my immunity stood strong in infection and I could fight the virus without any need of unnecessary medicines and treatment. And now I am continuing with my yoag and pranayam in post-recovery phase.

Well, tomato is the main ingredient. Some make it only with tomatoes while some like to add toor/arhar lentils in small amounts. Other thing to add flavor is the special aromatic rasam powder made with various herbs and spices. Tamarind pulp, jaggery, salt and seasoning of mustard, chilli, Curry leaves and bay leaves are added to enhance the aroma and taste. My doctor has advised to not indulge in any exhaustive physical work for few weeks till the body fully recovers. I should be back to my garden from July.

This one is the natti variety ( local ones) and they are too sour and tangy for eating as salad. I use the fresh hybrid ones for salads. But this one is really good for rasam, Sambhar and other curries where you need the tangy taste or for chutneys.
