Do turkeys eat bread?

My neighbors like to throw bread out onto the street by their house.
They don't do it all the time but I see bread on the ground often.
I guess they are doing it to feed birds.
This week I saw a male turkey by their house and it stood their waiting, his call frequent and loud.
I wonder if he was there because he saw bread there before and had some.
Do turkeys eat bread?
And what do they actually eat?
I am assuming that this turkey that's been roaming around our street is a wild turkey.

@lovebuglena That wouldn't have bothered them. I've heard though that molded bread is not good for them.

I thought about giving it bread once recently but hesitated. Plus, it wasn't that soft anymore.

It's not really good for them from what some have told me.

I didn't know about wild turkeys either until a few years ago.

There is hospital in Staten Island and there are a lot of turkeys there roaming around and sitting on trees too.
