My friend that I visit with for coffee at least once a month put me down as a referral. She wants to be a foster mom to dogs.
She likes dogs, but her husband will not let her have one, because she takes lots of trips, and he would have to care for one and have the responsibility.
I guess if she has a foster dog, they have respite care for when she would travel to see her kids. She goes away a month at a time.
She has been a foster parent to children in the past.
I am happy for her to find a way to do what she likes.
Me--I am obviously a cat person.

Yes it is. Both she and the dogs would benefit.

@CarolDM I would not foster dogs, but love cats. However I have plenty of them.

@GardenGerty Indeed the dogs would benefit too. I would do this but I get so attached.

I think they would have a respite set up for that. We are not really near a shelter, but I do have one other friend that fosters dogs.

@rebelann Oh, she wouldn't. She has been a foster mother for children over the years.

I'm a cat person, too. In fact, I AM a cat in a person body.
Is pet fostering a paid position?

No, it is not paid. She has some retirement income and works part time.

My youngest daughter daughter became a foster parent for a dog. After having her for a few months she realized she just couldn't part with Trudy so she ask to be able to adopt her. After 8 years of happiness for the two of them she passed away last year. I wish your friend luck and love with fostering.

I truly hope it works. She has been a foster parent for children when we both were younger.

I like cats and dogs. I have one of each.
Fostering a dog is a great idea for your friend! A positive compromise between her and her husband.
