In life there's a constant battle between the mind and the flesh. I'll define the flesh as our bodily desires which may not be in our best interests. In our mind we may know what is good and what is bad, what we can do and what we shouldn't do. Our mind may tell us to stop or not even start something at all but our flesh exerts powerful urges that may be hard to control or even stop when we know we should. A few examples might be: Someone likes chocolate. A piece of chocolate now and then might no be a problem. However, some people when they have a piece of chocolate, they can't control when they know they should stop but the flesh wants more and it becomes a health problem. Same can happen with alcohol, feelings, etc. What are your thoughts?

At my age, I say go for it! I can relate to that with dieting and even going for a walk.

When you say "go for it", what is the "it" that we should go for?

Yes, true. Some people have willpower and self-control and others do not.

It is a lot easier to change the scenery than to change oneself but well worth it.

Is the heart a part of this fight too, or is it more a neutral referee? Perhaps, we should bypass these fights altogether, and just live from the love in our heart, without indulging our flesh, or battling it with our minds. If we live from love, our flesh, and our mind, will then both fall into line then, automatically. Nothing can interfere with us when we live only from such love.

@innertalks That's what I'm hoping. I'll have to work on it.

@kanuck1 Yes, we can only hope and pray for that day to come sooner, rather than later.

Yup I can relate because when I start taking the fried food or fritters or any other thing which is not good in excess I actually eat in excess

There are many foods that I know are not good for me and so I dare not bring them into my house as I know that I will not be able to control myself.
