No such thing as a free lunch?

That is a common saying--"there is no such thing as a free lunch" means that you may think it is free but there will be some obligation or strings attached, but today we had an excellent "free lunch".
Our school district invited all staff to a meal catered basically by our central office staff. The Superintendent of schools grilled KC strip steaks for us all. We had baked potatoes, green beans, cookies and a hot roll, as well as water or soda.
Technically it was not free, it was a reward for hard work. I have to say it was the best school lunch I have ever had.
No sandwich and salad plates, but real meat and potatoes. Yum.

It is a particular cut of steak popularized, I guess in Kansas City. It is one side of a T Bone and it is boneless.

It was surprising, and very well prepared.

In a normal year they have a soup luncheon and a pie day, and other treats. This year they could not do that due to covid. With the restrictions lifting and many of us vaccinated this was a perfect ending.
