Twice overnight

Twice overnight I was awakened by a flash flood warning on my phone. The area is in danger, not me specifically.
Even before they built the dam around the town to protect it in the 1950's my property did not flood. It is "on top of the hill" in town.I have seen watermarks on the buildings down town, though.
My friend Jane lives in another small town and water came into her house last night. She will be using a wet/dry vacuum to clean it up. Next storm she will sand bag the doors.First she has an appointment out of town, though. Her husband had moved the car up to higher ground last night, so that is safe.
It is supposed to be drier today.

It's flooding all over the city here. Pretty and I had some errands to run so went out... As we drove around town, Pretty kept taking photos of the flooded yards, the water streaming over the roads and the overfilled ditches.
Flooded yard. Photo is mine.

Yes, you are on the receiving end of this as well. Be safe.

@GardenGerty The drainage ditches are still full if you want some of it.

Has it been raining? Pretty dry here for the past week. It was supposed to rain yesterday but we only got a sprinkle and the sun's nice and shiny today (so far).

I would gladly accept some sunshine. Of course a month from now I might be complaining due to the heat.

@GardenGerty Unfortunately, it turned cold and rainy, then cold and windy...

Been a victim of flash floods before.
It is no fun cleaning up.

No, it is not. My friend is managing. She is also going to make sand bags to put at her doors to stop water in the future.

@GardenGerty hope the sand bags keep the floodwaters out.

We are far enough from the river not to have big problems here. But circling around to get somewhere can be an adventure when it floods

We may drive down to look at the river later, if hubby ever decides to get up and around. It is Saturday now, but I have heard there is still a lot of rain coming down in the state.

This is the first she has had this experience in this house. She is not my only friend who is struggling, though, and many rural roads are closed due to high water.

It is drier, but kind of chilly for this time of year.

This is very unusual, and I am expecting, at times, some important calls. I never realized I would get this kind of warning.

I live on top of a hill too. I don't need to worry about flooding.
