Another day of painting.

It was another day of painting today. I've started another 5 paintings but none of them are finished yet! I'm going to try and finish them tomorrow.
The first one is one of a ladybird hanging from a twig. I made a mess of the first attempt so I got another sheet of watercolour paper and started over again from scratch!
The reason it went wrong was that first I had to wet the wings of the drawing of the ladybird, then add an orangy colour, then a light redish colour, and then on top of that a darker redish colour. I then let that dry. When that was dry I was told to rewet the area and then add a mixture of alzirin crimson and lamp black, which makes a really deep red, to the edges to make a kind of shadow. But I think I overdid it and it ran out of the edge of the picture which I then tried to stop with kitchen towel and then cotton bud balls but only smudged it and made it worse!
I may try to salvage ladybird attempt No.1 by trying to hide the bleed with a background colour, but I don't know if it will work!
I then did a second attempt but the drawing was too small and didn't cover enough of the paper, and I thought I'd drawn too much for it all to be rubbed out so I started a third one.
Eventually I managed to do the third attempt ladybird, and paint his wings and head without it bleeding and smudging so that's good. I have still to do his legs and the twig itself.
The other 4 paintings were of, if I can remember:-
1) A large tree.
2) A scene of a telephone box by a wall and the side of a house, and foliage or a tree.
3) A landscape with two small trees to one side.
4) A landscape with a stream, and trees, and foliage, and a gate and a few carrots (people).
All of them have been started but none finished. I think a couple are near completion, but they still need some things doing to them, like a grassy foreground, and the red telephone box needs painting.
So, I hope to finish them tomorrow.
Have a good night, everyone.

@sharonelton I have a lot to do in the garden from April to November, so I pain and I let it dry while I do other things in the garden and in the house.

I'm impatient to get on with it! If I do part of a painting, say a sky, I tend to start another one while I'm waiting for the first one to dry, and so on. This is called working in series.

@LadyDuck Very nice. I don't do anything in the garden. That's my step-dad's domain!

Why? You want me to sit around doing nothing while I'm waiting for my painting to dry? I l like to work in series as I said to the previous person. It is good practise.
