In the earlier days pen and paper were the norm. Everything we wanted to jot down, we would invariably use a pen and paper to note it. Many used to have personal diaries e.g. diaries for maintaining their day to day expenditure and telephone diary for noting down addresses and phone numbers of their friends/ relatives.
However, electronic gadgets slowly took the space and replaced pen and paper. Now we have electronic note books, smart phones, and tablets etc. to note down or record anything which we want to note. Importance of pen and paper have gone down. There may be some home where you may not find a pen easily, as they do not use it often.
How about you? Are you still using old pen and paper to note down anything or do you take the help of electronic devices to record your important things?

I belong to that old school. I still carry a pen and a diary everywhere. Though I am using the recent technology too but I am more comfortable with the old way

@arunima25 Yes, you are right. If we use a pen and paper that is good, otherwise if we start depending on electronic devices, we will not get any opportunity to write even.

@dpk262006 And we need to write... there is a lot of benefits to it. Working with fingers and hands with wrist movement is so important for functioning of brain.

@dpk262006 They both have pros and cons. But for me it's a sense of satisfaction using a pen and paper.. something to use my hands in a more holistic way.

@allknowing It is not correct. Now a days many offices have gone digital and they have digital record only. We are heading towards paperless era, as far as official work is concerned.

I use both. If I need to jot something quickly, I use pen and paper and transfer my notes to NotePad on my phone later.

You use both the methods that is why you are successful in life.
. It is smart on your part to keep a back up on your Notepad so that in case you lose your paper, you could check your Notepad.

I still rely on my paper and pen. Some young people rely on gadgets but at the end of the day they can hardly recall what they recorded.

It is nice that you still rely on pen and paper. But what do you mean by short resumes?

I still like to use pen and paper for a lot of things. I have various notepads for different bits of research/writing. I write myself notes on paper, and I use a wall calendar and diary. I'll use electronic devices for some things but still write them on paper as well! I actually enjoy the feel of writing with a pen and paper.

@dpk262006 I will often write down things I need to remember as well as putting them in an electronic diary. Somehow, I still manage to forget things
Yes, I am a writer. Sadly, it's become more of a hobby than a profession recently but I still do what I can.

@pumpkinjam I understand that primarily you try to note down the things on paper and then you transfer the same in your electronic diary.
It is natural to forget things. We are humans and our brain has limited storage, brain memory remains full most of the time and after certain times, there remains no space for storage of new things and we tend to forget. I also forget many things.
.
It is nice to know that you are a writer and you love to write.

It is nice to hear that you rely on pen and paper and you maintain different notepads
.
It is good that you still use paper diary and you record your things in that. These are safer to use in comparison to any electronic device. I agree with you that you cannot get a feel of pen and paper, while typing on an electronic device.
Are you a writer by the way?

It is wiser on your part that you write down your important tasks in the planner. It hardly matters if your writing is legible or not, if you could read your handwriting then it is fine.

@much2say Yes, you do not need to charge a pen or paper.
.
I agree with you that kids are not taught in schools - how to improve their handwriting. Teachers just do not bother to teach them about the importance of good handwriting or how to use a pen or pencil correctly.
It is good that you took the pain to teach your children and made them write nicely on a piece of paper.

@dpk262006 That's true - pen and paper never need to be charged
.
In school, kids are not really taught proper handwriting anymore. I have taken the time to teach both my kids . . . whether or not they actually use it in life is another thing, but at least they will have that skill in their pocket

That is wiser on your part that you carry your pen, when you go outside. Pen could be useful and you could need pen anytime. I also carry a pen with me, whenever I go outside.

. I have a smartphone, but I do not use it to record anything except "photos". I feel like these digital reminders do not help with brain usage.
