Looking on the gloomy side

My partner does tend to be something of a pessimist. At the weekend we had taken Big One to an event and found ourselves near the coast with a day to fill. Little One wanted to go to the beach, and it did seem like the ideal chance for a day at the seaside, but my partner was convinced that on the Saturday of a bank holiday the beach would be heaving. He found that there was a park-and-ride option to get the bus to the sea front, so opted for that, but as we headed there he was wondering aloud whether there would be any parking space as the place was bound to be jam-packed. So Little One and I did smile to ourselves as we turned into the car park. There was a grand total of two cars there - and one of those turned out to belong to an employee! The bus driver was excited to see us - apparently we were his fifth passengers so far - and the beach itself was also not that busy, with a few small groups dotted about on the sands but mostly just plenty of space and more than enough sand (I’m not a big fan!) So all that doom and gloom was completely unfounded. Do you tend to look on the gloomy side? All rights reserved. © Text and image copyright Fleur 2021.

It depends... on some subjects, like Covid, yes, I see the dark side. On other subjects, I'm an optimist. I hope you all enjoyed your beach holiday.

Yes we enjoyed a brief paddle (water was cold!), looking for interesting shells and collecting a few pebbles to paint. That was enough really; we opted for a cliff-top walk afterwards.

@Fleura I'm glad you went in, since you were there... but yeah, sometimes Pretty will get into cold water but I can't. I start cramping as soon as I get fully wet. Did you find some good rocks to paint?

@DaddyEvil Apparently cold-water swimming is good for our immune systems and our mental health. It's becoming quite a 'thing' just now, But that depends on exactly how cold... Little One wants to give each of her friends a painted pebble, and we managed to find the right number that were much the same size too.
