Ear wax, what do you say about that

An advert just popped in my browser about some cotton buds and the discussion topic came into my mind. My memory went back to my childhood that how I hated when my older cousin sisters caught hold of me to clear my ear wax. You know girls, they will clean any bit of dirt wherever they can find it. I don't know but the process felt much painful to me and I tried desperately to break free of their clutches. Now coming back to present, I learnt that ear waxes are natural lubricants for the ear and it gets cleared on its own, so my sisters' fear that I will go deaf or have earache in future were such an innocent myth. If I like to clean my ear at all, I always liked the soft cotton buds that is much safer for the eardrum.
So folks, what's your part of the story about these ear wax.

So true it cleanses on its own. That I did not learn when we were younger. I also experienced that with my mother.

Of course, we produce ear wax for a reason. 
Sometimes it can be too much and ears need to be cleaned. My ears sometimes get so obstructed my hearing is reduced to at least half, then I need to use saline solution or baby oil to clear the ways. 
Other tools are dangerous and try to desist from using them.

Just like what mom says , its okay to clean your ears but be very careful . You are right when you said its a natural lubricant for our ears. But whats bad is if there are a huge amoubt of earwax that can harm your ear , that type should be removed because it can cause you illness or ear infection.

I do have to clear some every so often. Some people produce to much and it doesn't clear it self out. It'll stick itself to whatever goes in my ears (typically my earbuds) forcing me to have to clean them so that the buds don't get damaged.

I also use ear buds to clean my ear but I don't know why my right ear hurts when I enter ear buds to clean it and I also use it carefully but don't know why my ear hurts
