Neil Young Top Ten: Cinnamon Girl (#9)

After some displeasure by a certain Neil Young fan yesterday over the Abba countdown 
(it was a joke) I decided to make a Neil Young top ten. Lots of Neil Young fans here, and I’m surprised I hadn’t done this before. Here’s today’s song.
#9: Cinnamon Girl
One of Young’s best-known hits, and an FM rock staple over fifty years after its release. Why not? Those are some crunching guitars, and a rock and roll theme lyrically (“ten silver saxes, a bass with a bow, the drummer relaxes and waits between shows for his cinnamon girl”).
One of the highlights of this song is Crazy Horse guitarist Danny Whitten, who’s blaring away and singing high harmony with Young. He’ll be the subject of another song later in the countdown......

Whitten played like the angel he would be sadly far too young.
My wife dressed up as a cinnamon girl once for Halloween. it caused the non-playing of this song for a year or so to get the image out of my head.
Literally taped 100 cinnamon sticks to her coat.

Among many Young song favorites this is the one I like the best! Maybe I'm partial to drummers and girls with cinnamon colored hair
