Always Borrowing Money

I'm all for helping a friend in need but I am starting to get annoyed about one friend. At first I was okay with it but it's becoming a habit. She always borrows money every single month. She earns more than me, she knows I'm struggling yet she puts me in such position. She even asks me to use my credit card for her. Today she texted me if she can borrow my cash. The cash she knew that was given to me by my boyfriend to do groceries while I was living with him. I kept it because I felt like a wife and I'm being sentimental. I really just want to tell her to stop acting like she owns my wallet. But I don't want to be an unkind friend.

I can understand your situation and even I face this situation because I'm also soft hearted like you and I feel bad to say NO

Yeah today I lent her my boyfriend's cash 30£ and I did say to her if she could transfer the payment to me as her reason for borrowing money is because she's bought something and it needs to be paid in cash. She said she'd transfer it right away but now that she's got the money she seemed to have forgotten to transfer.

Even I'm getting a bit put off now. She's kind of abusing kindness. Just now she was asking me to buy some things for her. Like seriously which part of I don't have much money this month doesn't she understand.

Oh, that's never a good thing. I don't like when people try to do that. That was a good statement: Tell her to stop acting like she owns my wallet. I've never heard that one before. I'll have to keep that sentence in mind in case a situation comes up. If your friend is always in need of money, maybe she could start earning a few bucks on myLot.

@flapiz Remember this: If she is borrowing every month and not returning what she borrowed, is that considered borrowing or is it taking?

You seem to be in big dilemma. You can't lend money that doesn't belong to you even to a friend.

What I hate most is that she treats my finances as conjugal to her. I never do that to her. I respect her finances.

This is not a laudable attitude. You're loyal to the wrong kind of friend. In fact, I wouldn't consider such a person a friend at all. She exploits you and obviously hasn't got a high opinion of you because you always succumb when she comes asking. The conversation you must have with your 'friend' may be unpleasant, but you have to tell her that enough is enough and that you won't give her any more money even if it will mean the end of your friendship. I'd say that it isn't a real friendship anyway.

I know it isn't a very good trait that's why I feel bad about it I don't like what she's doing but I am too scared to say something. I moved to an island and I only have few friends and it feels isolating sometimes I don't think I can afford to lose this friend.

@flapiz I don't understand why you consider this person a friend. A real friend doesn't behave like this.

Do yourself a favor. Tell her she can't borrow money anymore. She makes more than you do. Tell her you have no extra money to loan her.

Just tell her you can't help her and apologize multiple times. Then send a message asking whether you can have a little back by telling you are broke. See how she reacts.

You are not a friend if this person is using you. Simple as that. There is only one solution. STOP lending money. This person is toxic.

That's the last time I'm not gonna lend her anymore as I actually feel bad and put in a very tight spot. Now I'm wondering how to stretch my pockets whilst she's carefree.

You need to be unkind for such a friend. I hate friends who ask for borrowing money from me even though they earn more than me. It seems that it's their habit to borrow money
