Ahh springtime, a chance to see and feel some bright sunshine for a few days in a row. No more freezing temperatures and gray skies. It's enough to make you shout "Good Day Sunshine!" And maybe that's what Sir Paul McCartney was thinking when he wrote this carefree, upbeat tune, on a sunny day at John Lennon's house. So as the Fifth Dimension would say, "Let The Sun Shine In," put on your shorts and catch some rays as we take a listen to this Beatles classic from the Revolver album. Kudos to the person who put that video montage of The Beatles together. What a fun video to watch!!! And now for some more "sunshine"... Name that tune and the artists who recorded them- Whodunnit? 1. "George Harrison" wrote another "sun titled" tune at Eric Clapton's house on a beautiful spring morning for The Beatles Abbey Road album in 1969. This tune was covered by "Richie Havens" in 1971. The song was inspired by England's "long cold lonely winters." As the sun brings "smiles returning to the faces" and when it arrives everything's " alright." What an inspirational song to have come out of a "bright sunny day!" -Do you know the name of this "sunny classic Beatles song?" 2. This 2002 song was written by a female artist whose last name is the "same as a large all-black bird." The casual tune about enjoying the simple things in life was very marketable for this singer, as it enjoyed success on pop radio and was #1 on the Adult Top 40 chart. The song video was "a fun-in-the-sun surf song" with the female artist "strumming a guitar on the beach and doing some surfing." You might know some of this artist's other songs among them "All I Wanna Do," "If It Makes You Happy" and "Everyday Is a Winding Road." In 2005, she and disgraced cycling legend Lance Armstrong announced their engagement which was later called off. The song's title is "one of the things you do" when you go to the beach. -Do you know the name of this female artist and her "song about the sun?" 3. "Sunshine" is not only what's in the sky but an expression of love and affection too. And this "Motown artist" expresses his devotion to his then wife in this "1972 #1 classic." A wonderful example of using nature to describe how important someone is in your "life." Motown records signed this boy artist at 11 and billed him as a "little" genius. They dropped the "little part" from his name after he reached 6ft in adulthood. This singer plays most of the instruments on his albums. He is skilled on the keyboard, bass, drums and "harmonica," mastering all of them as a teenager. This artist became a prominent figure in popular music as he "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" one of the most successful careers as a songwriter and musician in the second half of the twentieth century. -Do you know this African-American artist who started out little but wound up with a really big career? And can you name his sunshine song? 3B- BONUS: Do you know the name of the Country/Pop songwriter who wrote a song about "Colorado and the Rocky Mountains" and also recorded a sunshine titled song? Do you know that sun song's name? Ok, let's not "feel the heat" when solving these song and artist answers. If your stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. Or as The Four Tops would say in song, "Reach Out And I'll Be There." *Feel free to share a favorite song which makes you feel it's spring. Who knows, maybe it will show up on a later quiz of mine. Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! Until Next Saturday... Source- Wikipedia & songfacts.com Photo- freepik.com

1. Oh, I know that one!!! There goes the moon! 2. Seriously: I’m totally clueless. My top 40 knowledge begins to slip in the late 70s, and but the mid-80s my “popular music” education in general amounted to college bands that were lucky enough to get popular (like U2 and R.E.M.). 3. Stevland Hardaway Morris! He wasn’t born in Hard Times, Mississippi. There wasn’t enough room on my countdown during Motown May for that song, but it is one of his many, many songs that are “the apple of my eye” musically. BONUS: How I used to sing that: Sunshine on my shoulder gives me sunburn Sunshine in my eye can make me blind Sunshine on the water shows pollution Sunshine almost always makes me cry Never can think of “Here Comes the Sun” without Eric Idle’s appearance on SNL coming to mind:
