We had a tornado close by

And I didn't know a thing about it! My husband and son were playing golf when they heard about a tornado touching down near our house. Turns out it was about a mile down the road, but didn't do much damage. I was in the house with my play list going, myLotting, cleaning, doing my usual chores and was totally oblivious. Had a hard rain storm outside, but nothing unusual. I didn't have the TV on and had forgotten to turn my volume back up on my cell phone, so I didn't get an alert. My husband was frantic when he couldn't reach me, so he called my cousin down the road to check on me before he could get home. Thank the good Lord no one got hurt or had any property damage as far as I've heard anyway. And I'm sure glad we got those potatoes out of the ground before all that rain! The photo is my peonies this year. I absolutely love peonies.

That is scary. I have watched a tornado down in Florida on the maps as it went down the road past our house heading toward the in-laws house. One year it actually came into our complex but we were not down there then, it did a little damage to our house and outdoor light but not much. I love peonies too, mine are in full bloom right now.

Glad to know you didn't have a lot of damage. Tornadoes are so fast and deadly. I'd love to see your peonies...do you have several varieties?

Glad to hear everything is ok. I enjoy storms and seldom pay attention to the warnings

@1creekgirl This time of year I am mostly outside. If the animals get nervous then I keep an eye out.

Peonies are one of my favorite flowers, too! Thank God, nobody was injured or killed by that tornado:(

I haven't been down there, but hopefully it was so bad. I have two peony bushes, one is the white one in the photo (Festiva Maxima) and the other is a pink (Sarah Bernhardt.) They smell so wonderful, don't they?

@1creekgirl We had five tornados touch down last summer, the same night. Not one home was destroyed or one person injured.

@1creekgirl Thanks for asking. She will not eat the food the vet prescribed. I will try again today. I am adding a little chicken broth to see if that will help. She is sleeping a lot and I make sure she is drinking water.

Yes, he was really worried about me. What kind of peonies do you have? I read there are over 6,000 kinds!

I am glad that you are safe and you had no damages. We had a hail storm Sunday night, but we had no damages in the garden. Your peonies are beautiful.

@1creekgirl We were lucky this time, the stones were not bigger than a chickpea. I am always worried when we have hail storms.

Hail can really cause a lot of damage. Glad you didn't get any from that hail.

Tornadoes are very scary since the damage they do to home and property is even worse than a hurricane.

Yeah, you can sometimes get out of the way of a hurricane.

They scare me, too. We have more hurricanes usually than tornadoes, but both can be deadly.
