A photo of our new garden shed

I’ve spent most of the day on my own as Vince is quite involved with helping his brother organise the funeral his (the brother’s) wife. I’ve been gradually finding homes for more of our belongings and continue to sort and declutter. Some rags I used for packing valuables have now been put in the rubbish bin as I have many more rags than I need. We need to do more work in the garage as we still can’t get two cars in there. The photo shows the little garden shed that we erected just out from the garage. We’ve fitted two lots of shelves in the shed and it now holds quite a few tools, etc. You can see the boundary fence on the right and you can see part of the air-conditioner. The piled-up of bricks have been given to us and we may use them to pave down the side of the house.

I am sorry about Vince's brother's wife. May her soul rest in peace. My condolences for the family. You seem pretty busy in setting and settling down in new place. I have missed on latest updates on your side. So I will be visiting your discussions to find them out. Who gave those bricks to you??

One of the residents in our village has replaced his paving with cement and kindly gave them to us.

my assumption of course is that one grows mushrooms in a dark garden shed...

Ours is purely and simply a storage area although maybe I could grow some mushrooms. They probably still sell mushroom kits.

@DocAndersen It might have spades and potting mix and plant pots in it then it would qualify as a garden shed. If it had mushrooms in it, it would be a mushroom shed!

@JudyEv you are right " work is fun ", I even consider it something sacred when I'm doing it for myself and family, you both have good attitude, I'm sure results always come out far better than expected.

@louievill I guess DIY satisfies the hunter/gatherer/look after the family attitudes that we've inherited from our cavemen ancestors.

I am sorry for the brother of Vince wife, my condolences to his family. Your garden shed looks very nice, I would like something similar, more storage s always useful. Take it easy decluttering, do not overdo.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm just doing a bit each day and having spells in between. One of the ladies in the 'village' takes donations for an op shop so I'll be taking a box of items to her one day soon.

I am pretty sure that the main problem with decluttering is that it is never ending. It is also easy to go overboard and get rid of too much. I tend towards saving too much stuff.

Now we're in the new place, I keep coming across things and thinking 'I really don't need this any more'. I save too much stuff too. I can't believe I have so many knick-knacks. I won't be buying any more ever - at least, I don't think I will.

You are getting it organized slowly. I used rags, our out of season clothes and even my curtains to wrap breakables. It works and gets everything moved.
