Today is my dad's bday. I did send a gift up there, and talked to him on Saturday, sis and co were visiting. He seemed OK, although of course he couldn't remember what they had for lunch. Of course he asked about my son, he always does. Anyway, Apparently my nephew's house warming/grad party is going to be shortly after his move in on the 4th weekend. So, I guess we will try to go up there. It'll give us something to do. Any plans for the 4th anybody?

Happy Birthday to your dear Dad! 
If he didn't remember what he had to eat for lunch, it must not have been memorable or worth remembering. And some meals just are like that.
I hope that you find something really nice to send to your nephew for his housewarming/grad party, such memorable events in anyone's life.
July 4th is my dear Dad's anniversary, this year will be 12 years. Somehow it feels like many more.

He has dementia, he struggles to remember what month it is. I don't always remember what I had for my meals though either without thinking about it..so that isn't that exciting..except he might not even remember they went to a Chinese restaurant.

@Juliaacv Oh so sorry about your mother..
. I didn't know she had passed. My grandmother who had dementia was like that towards the end. It seems like they could give them Ativan or Xanax or something to keep them more comfortable.

@snowy22315 I'm sorry, dementia is such a cruel way for anyone to live out their years.
My own mother, who passed a few days ago had this. The last few days she knew no one and was very agitated and restless.

Haven't even given a thought to the 4th yet. Probably will go to my daughters for a bbq

THanks, BBQ is always good. You should invite people over to celebrate your new deck, but it will be nice for you to get out of the house..maybe you could something for Labor Day.

@snowy22315 yes the new deck needs a party!!! We have a whole month of birthdays to celebrate in July so maybe that will be the perfect excuse to have everyone together.

THank you, he is 84 today. I was just thinking for his bday next year maybe I will try to make this chocolate cake he really loves. I can't get my mother to make it anymore.

Yes, hopefu!my the stages where it is really bad will be mercifully short. His core personality seems pretty much the same right now thankfulky.

I hope the weather is OK that weekend, and that 100 degree + heat doesn't slide East. If it is 100 degrees+ or pouring..don't think I will be going anywhere. I guess it could be rescheduled though.
