I have read a few versions of this story and I must confess that I am confused. We all saw the paintings of Barack and Michelle Obama that were shown to the world years ago. I thought THOSE were the official portraits. They were displayed in some DC building for awhile (I don't remember which) but I do know that there never was an official unveiling or installation of them at the White House. Trump just isn't a fan of the Obamas, black people, or tradition. Today I saw a story on Twitter about Joe Biden (Obama's VP) hosting the Obamas and having an unveiling ceremony. I read a few different articles and I am confused. One of them says that the Obama portraits are "virtually done". Wut? Then what did we see years ago? It mentions that the Trumps are still in the very beginning stage . That I get. The Obama portrait thing has me all confused. In any case it is good to see that President Biden will do the proper honor to former President Obama and his wife. I am sure he will do the same for the Trumps.
President Joe Biden will host a ceremony later this year to unveil Barack Obama‘s official portrait, in a move that will bring back a longstanding White House tradition that was temporarily discontinued by Donald Trump. According to a report from NBC, the

Perhaps these are the same portraits, but finally being unveiled at the White House? In any case, I'm glad it's happening. I take it there will be no unveiling of the 45th president's portrait?

I think Biden is classier than that. They will do it if the creep manages to get through the portrait painting session.

I thought they were publicly released too even if Trump refused to allow the paintings in the White House.
The National Portrait Gallery commissioned them from two African-American artists

That is what I am confused about. I thought they were already a done deal but now new articles are saying that the Obama portraits are almost finished.

I am guessing they mean the ones for the white house. I think if the Trumps get done they will be included.

I am not sure where your idea comes from that Trump is not a fan of black people. His policies saw the lowest black unemployment numbers in history. His policies rose median incomes by $1000 in black households. His policies sought to offer black students the opportunity to attend better schools through his support of school choice. His aim? To offer poor and minority children the same opportunities for a good education as the wealthy and majority population has. His policies created a net record high in 2018 and 2019 for female black new business start ups. In Flint, Michigan, who has a population of 54% black, Trump awarded $100 million to fix the broken water infrastructure system. Under Trump's policies the black poverty rate in 2018 fell to an all-time low. President Trump allocated more funding than any other president in American history to historically black colleges and universities. And there are too many other things to list. The underlying fact is that Trump DID care bout black Americans as much as he cared about ALL Americans. Trump was not a fan of the Obama's because of of the Obama's failed policies, and moreover, the failed policies of Obama that actually did nothing to advance black's cause. We need to stop the rhetoric and false accusations that have become so rampant these days. If we want to have a discussion let's talk on the POLICIES and on the FACTS and leave out all the other stuff that is simply wrong. As for the topic of the post at hand, I am not sure it is an issue or a thing that matters when we have so many other things to think about and to get done right now. So I have decided to leave that part of my comment out.
