Where are all these tornadoes coming from???

I guess that's a rhetorical question. I somewhat understand how tornadoes form, but forty years ago, we rarely had tornadoes in eastern NC. Over the years, they're happening more often. Now in the space of about two weeks, we've had two of them. The first one touched down about a mile or so from us, but thank God it didn't do much damage. The second one was this past Sunday on Father's Day. I knew it was raining terribly and so dark outside around 2pm. We had just finished dinner and dessert and my son and husband were opening Father's Day gifts when someone said we were under a tornado warning. We all checked our phones and the TV which read that a tornado or cell of some kind was seen west of us and heading east right toward us. So thankful nothing touched down and after a couple of hours it had cleared up enough for Robert and Nathan to drive home. I was halfway surprised no drivers slid into our field on that sharp curve while it was raining so hard. They tend to do that...they don't slow down in the rain and that curve makes them slide right off the highway. So far over the years no one has been hurt seriously. It's raining again right now, but no watches or warnings. Hope the weather is good in your part of the world. Take care and stay safe. Not sure who posted that gorgeous photo of Peonies on FB, but hope they don't mind me sharing it.

Very lovely flowers, No tornadoes here in Florida but we have our share of a hurricane warning, I have been lucky in the four years I have lived where I was never caught in a hurricane, Right now our weather remain much too dry and we desperately need some rain but we get short downpours and then everything just dries up again,

Do you have any sink holes? Those would really be dangerous.

It seems to me that the climate is definitely changing. Many areas are having completely different weather from what they're used to. I hope the tornadoes stay away from you.

The tornado's were from the tropical depression remnant which passed through our state over the weekend. It stayed lower from us then expected, hit the southern and eastern part more so. We did get rain and some winds but nothing like what they first thought we would. Glad that you are safe. What a beautiful picture of peonies. Have a blessed day

Glad you are safe and sound. Global warming has made the storms worse and more frequent. Lovely picture.

Well, it's a thunderstorm kind of day here. One just came through luckily, I made it home before it struck.

I’m sure that it is somehow related to the warming temperature but who knows.

Me, too. At least you can usually get out of the way in a hurricane.
