Good food, good company...the guest just left.

It's 5:34 PM as I write this post. We had a pleasant company for our lunch and the first company that we had since the pandemic hit us last year. It feels good to socialize after a long year or more. And we kept all the safety measures and covid protocols in place 
My husband's brother in law had come to city yesterday for some work and he wished to visit us. Till yesterday guests were not allowed to visit our complex as per the covid protocol. So, he booked a hotel and stayed there. Today our area was no more in micro containment zone and some restrictions were eased. We could call guests inside our home if they are fully vaccinated and have a recent negative report. Our brother in law fulfilled both criteria.
But then we were not sure if he can make it today. He had to finish some property registeration and then catch his flight at 1. But then he received this message that two flights of the airlines have been merged together and now the timings is 7 PM. So finally, he could visit us and spend few hours.
I had a very short notice to prepare some good food for lunch. And I made these quick yummy dishes that you see here. It was fried rice, chilli paneer ( cottage cheese) and a mixed veg salad with cheese. And we had some fresh lychee icecream left from yesterday for dessert. We enjoyed the company and he left for airport around 4 PM. It took me some time to clean kitchen and all dishes. I took some nap as soon as he left.
Good to have some company in this pandemic

Yes, it felt refreshing. We could see someone other than the four in family in a long time and enjoy eating with them Covid has taught us to value every little thing that we took for granted.

@arunima25 So true. We still can't meet up yet. We're supposed to be having all our restrictions eased now on July 19, it was going to be June 21 but Boris Johnson extended it!

@sharonelton We saw the news that cases there in UK are again rising. And the new delta variant seems to be more deadly. Not sure how many more waves each country has to face. Situation gets under control and then again the cases spike.

@arunima25 We are not going to travel. We only cross the border to buy a few things in Italy, but we only stay there an hour or two and then we come back home. We meet nobody.

@LadyDuck Though travel is allowed now and flights are operational, I am still not risking to go and meet my mom and family. I will wait till I get fully vaccinated and things get in more control.

It was so nice to see someone after a long time. I have not seen my mom and brother since the pandemic. I want this virus to be under control soon so that I can visit them and give them a tight hug.

Its' nice that you were able to visit with your brother in law and enjoy a nice lunch together. Your food looks really good. Hopefully you'll be able to have more visitors in the near future.

Felt so good to see some new face in a year timeWe were so tired of seeing each other all the time in this house arrest period since the pandemic
I hope that soon things get back to normal and we can socialize more like regular human beings would do without any pressure of following the protocol.

Our apartment has taken all precautions. Now all our maids, cooks, and other help like security and car wash guys are vaccinated, most of them being fully vaccinated. They did vaccination drive at the war front to vaccinate all these people. Even vendors who are regular to the apartment got a vaccination for free from our apartment association. Now anyone who is not vaccinated will not get an id card and work permit to work inside.

That's a lovely menu, mouth watering. I think I should try these this weekend

It was quick and really delicious. That's the best I could do in that short timeWe had regular dinner parties and get together before the pandemic. For few days a break from over socialization was good but now we die to see some new face.
