How our old bookshelves look now

I wrote about our new bookshelves which I’ve now stacked with books. In the photo, you can see the ‘old’ shelves which are now able to house some of my more treasured knick-knacks. Vince made these bookcases when we were first married. They match the colour of the dresser very well and they fit nicely in the space. The dresser itself is too full although you can’t see it in the photo because of the reflections. Decluttering is an ongoing process but in the meantime I can see and enjoy some of my bits and pieces. On the right you can just see the candle-holders on the piano and you can see our new lounge chairs which fit the smaller space nicely. Today we put together a small workbench which fits in a corner of the garage. We also have some shelving there and will be putting up more pegboard at a later date. Onward and upward as they say.

I love my figurines but would like to get rid of a few. I have a ridiculous number of them, especially for this house. Because of the reflection you can't see the ones in the cabinet too well but there are a heap more in there.

I am glad you still have it because it is beautiful and it looks great on that wall. We had similar lounge chairs when we lived in the apartment in Monte Carlo, it was not a big place.

The chairs rock slightly and recline. There is a similar two-seater just out of the photo. If we have extra people, we can bring in the turquoise tub chairs.

@JudyEv - It looks like you are starting to get settled in and organized. I saw that you put pegboard and a workbench in the garage, too. This place will feel like home very quickly.

@JudyEv - That's a good idea. There's an IKEA store about 20 miles from here. We will have to stop there sometime, if we are headed in that direction for some other reason.

This is the only room where the piano will fit. We couldn't get it in the office or the spare bedroom but it does look quite nice now in the lounge. I thought it would look too cluttered but it doesn't look too bad at all.
