It’s time for another great saxophone song. NOT a “sax song” like “Tequila” by the Champs, but songs that have great augmentation to them by the sax work. Like yesterday’s song, today’s tune is an album cut, but given how many albums this sold I’m sure a few people know this tune. #5: Your Latest Trick - Dire Straits As with yesterday’s song, if you want great sax work, just call in a master. In this case, the late, great Michael Brecker, who worked with rock and jazz acts out the wazoo and was part of the Brecker Brothers with his trumpet-playing brother Randy. The sax work in this song is so overwhelming that it took me months after I got this album to even listen to the lyrics. I think the entire album is very cool. If you listen to the entire album, “Money for Nothing” (the first/biggest hit from the album) seems so out of place. Even “Walk of Life” fits in better with the mid tempo feel of the rest of the album. Love this album so much.
