Have You Changed Over Time?

For a few it may not apply, I agree, as they are still young though not wet behind the ears. Though I have retained my basic character, the experiences over the years have left their impressions on me. My childhood was more about not letting down my parents. My working years to not upset the apple cart to ensure a safe landing onto retirement years. Now the landing has happened without much of turbulence. I was never into planning ahead as there were uncertainties as to how long I could work. But when that phase was past, I thought of travelling without being burdened with work issues at the back of my mind. Then this unwelcome visitor barged in and is clearly overstaying its welcome. It could well be "Man proposes, God disposes"! I am just grinning and bearing it! Well, coming back to my headline. Yes, I have changed during the last one year. We are mere tools left to react to the reality, not much different from other species. Maybe, I will be back to my old self once this pandemic is just a blip in our lives, sort of a bad dream! Then it should be life as usual, carefree, as I had imagined after retirement. I looked forward to a happy go lucky retired life but now I am left to watch my back, the lurking danger is too real. At least the restrictions are. Have you changed over time? Image: Life from free media site Pexels

We keep learning and adapt from the best all the time. But we should also be aware of the choices we make and the consequences thereof.

In my nearly 59 years I’m certain that I have changed. The pandemic has surely changed us all. There are definitely things that I will no longer take for granted.

Yes, this pandemic has changed the world. It has driven home the point loud and clear we are the same and better that we get our priorities right. No point in looking for reasons to fight one another.

I can understand Ocean Tiara. Circumstances can force a change in us too. We need to adapt or be left behind. As for me, I stuck to my basics but tried to go with the flow rather than become a stumbling block.

Life has a lot opportunities to change or to do away with man's sinful ways. It took me several years to get rid of my bad attitude and vices. Now I enjoy it as new creature for 41 years.

Good that you changed for the better. We learn from our mistakes and then make wise choices.

For me, I think of the consequences of the change. I don't go against my conscience.

I have changed a lot over time. I hope I'm a better, nicer person now. I wasn't always.

Nice to hear that. Experiences have a mellowing effect on us. I reflect on my life more after my retirement.

It depends on which part of me your question, of, "Have you changed over time?" applies to. My physical body has changed. I cannot do the things that I used to do. My mental body has changed. My brain is nowhere near as quick, or sharp, as it used to be. My emotional body has changed. I tend to be more emotional as I grow older, and various episodes in my life squeeze the emotions out of me. Has my higher self, or soul, changed? All parts of me have changed, so I think that these parts have changed for the better, where all else has changed for the worse. There is some comfort then, that our higher self benefits from all the changes in our lives, be they good, or bad changes.

@Shiva49 I am pretty much the same as you there. I want smooth sailing at least mentally, and emotionally, in my life now, but I do realise that the occasional physical problem, and I hope that it all it is, will raise its head up, and be felt more and more, as I get older, and older too.

@innertalks Every ten years or so we change especially physically and that leaves a mark on our emotional makeup. Some get weighed down markedly as life becomes a struggle. Good memories from my past soothe me that I did what I could in the circumstances.

That means you are well on your way to rise even higher! Physical body revolts as we age. Then mental, but I think it is better we forget the present but recall and remember the past especially those that gave us the momentum and excitement. My emotional self has changed too as I don't like challenges along the way, sort of want a smooth sailing into the sunset. I think my soul has stood the test of time backing me to the hilt! It is ready to take over when my time is called here.

Yes, I have changed overtime. I have cut off from watching the news since the pandemic came. It frightens me a lot that I just want to hear happy things. Life is too short to worry. I live in the moment.

I think that is the best way in the circumstances. Pandemic has been in the headlines for over a year and it looks hydra-headed with many mutations. I read mostly only headlines as news are contradictory and confusing.

I think all have changed as our lives are held to ransom by this overstaying visitor. It is using stealth to cast a pall of gloom
