Maybe this is something that music geeks like me notice, but now you’re gonna notice it because I’m going to highlight it!
There are a number of songs out there that mention other songs in the lyrics. I’m going to give you ten of my favorites. The actual song, not the song mentioned in the song, that is.
This one isn’t a favorite, but it is the the one that inspired the countdown: Bad Company’s “Shooting Star.” This is a terribly sad song that details the lives of way too many people in music: get interested in music, get a hit, get an early end to life with an overdose. At the beginning of the song they mention the Beatles’ first hit, “Love Me Do.”
So sit back and sing the song within the song!

Maybe it is not a favorite of yours, but I really do like this song, and have played it many times on guitar even. THAT being said, I never really caught the Beatles reference. This should be an interesting series. I will try to keep up with it. But I am bad at that sometimes.
