An email not intended for a woman

I got an email in my junk folder from "Sexual Health." The subject line read: Have sex for up to 4 hours. The body of the email started with my email address and right under it it said this: #1 Trick To Naturally Grow It Bigger. Seems they were trying to sell me something. Shark Tank and erectile dysfunction were mentioned in the image that was in the body of the email. And the image was clickable, taking me to some website. (I never clicked on it of course.) I wonder if a product for erectile dysfunction was ever pitched on Shark Tank or if their name was just used to make it look legit... For those that are not familiar, Shark Tank is a show where entrepreneurs pitch business or product ideas that they want to develop to potential investors in hopes they invest in that business or product. I get that my email address doesn't give away if I am male or female but I bet whoever sent this junk email out didn't care if the receipt was male or female.

I don't bother opening my Spam folder. You know if you open email in that folder there's a good chance the sender has set up notifications that tell him/her who opened it so they know to keep sending email to you. I don't like receiving junk mail so avoid opening it. Why let them know they have a working email addy?

@lovebuglena Yeah, several people on myLot do that. I try to warn them against it. *shrug* You can set up a "notification event" on email you send to someone so it alerts you as soon as they open it. It's in the email settings and is easy to set up. (Scammers use it so they know when they have found a "live" email addy.)

@DaddyEvil Good to know. I will refrain from opening spam emails unless it's something that is legit that ends up there by mistake.

I opened this email just for the fun of it. I usually never do and just delete it. I do go into my Spam folder before I empty it out because sometimes stuff that is not spam ends up in there. I had no idea that it was possible for the sender to know if someone opened their email or not.
