A new fridge after all

I really didn't want to buy a new refrigerator yet, but our old one wouldn't stay cold enough. We had it many years, but new ones are too expensive for what they are in my opinion. We bought a GE brand from Lowes Home Improvement, but what a lot of stress getting everything set up! My husband always installs our appliances and it was a job for sure. And in the process, we spotted a large nest of angry wasps in the ceiling of our front porch! We were able to spray them and thankfully Dale only got stung once. You ever played with one of those little puzzles where you have to slide one piece before you can slide another one? That's what we had to do. He had to move out the old refrigerator so he could move the upright freezer to that place so he could move the new fridge to where the freezer had been. Anyway, it's in and I really will enjoy it. It's a side by side and has the water and ice dispenser in the door which my old one didn't have. Sure hope this one lasts as long as the previous one. Hope your weekend's less stressful than mine!

@1creekgirl I know the feeling. Had to get a new fridge last month. It cost me an arm and leg.

My fridge wasn't cold the other day. Turn out the door couldn't close properly. So I changed the door gasket. It still usable until now afterwards.

Your new refrigerator is really big, but beautiful. I am trying to find a place where to install an additional one, my fear is "what if" the refrigerator breaks and I have to wait more than 24 hours to get a new one?

@1creekgirl We have three freezers but only one refrigerator. The insurance would pay for the food we could lose, but I hate wasting food.

@LadyDuck Years ago our electricity went out while we were gone on vacation and we lost everything in our freezer and fridge. Our insurance paid for most of it, but it took forever to get the smell out.

You could lose a lot of food if that happened. We have a small fridge in the shop that could hold a few things if that happened to us.

That look big and beautiful. How about your old one, was it as big as this?

No, the old one was smaller. That's why the new one wouldn't fit in the same place.

@FaruMesh Thanks, it's actually in the place where we had the upright freezer, now the freezer is where the old fridge was.

Your new fridge looks quite like ours but our freezer is at the bottom. I hope you have years of trouble-free service from it.

I am glad you were able to get a new one. I don't like having to purchase such big ticket items but it is something we must do from time to time. Yours looks nice. Glad Dale was only stung once, wasps are the worst in the summer time.

It's so nice to have all of it in place. We decided to move the big freezer out to the shop and put in two new kitchen cabinets.

You will love your new fridge. Appliances don't last as long as they used to; but hopefully you will get at least 10 years out of it!

Most things don't last as long now as they did years ago. Planned obsolescence, I guess.

It's just like a puzzle playing to get the new fridge fits in while sliding the veteran fridge to another space.
