So I am in the middle of teaching a two-week stint for Piedmont Children's Choir--today is my day off in between the first and second week--I am thinking about a nap--the music is now learned that I need to teach this coming week--Two Purcell duets and a Monteverdi duet--and I have practiced--I will be singing an Amy Beach duet --The Night Sea--with a friend of mine--we are all masked --but it is great to sing with friends again--my teaching is online still--but some of the rehearsals are in-person outside--and all the performances are outside-- I have to decide whether to stay teaching online in the fall--or maybe include some in-person lessons outside--

That’s good news. I think outside lessons are best while the weather is still good. Getting scary out there again.

It is getting scary out there. But I feel pretty safe outside teaching--even then, all the students must be vaccinated --choir camp was fun--voice lessons were online, but all the rehearsals were outside in small pods with masks on--

We should be ok for outside lessons through the beginning of November or so I am hoping

@divalounger I hope so, too. That Delta variant scares the heck out of me.

That's good you're doing some in-person teaching.

Singers are super-spreaders of this virus, so it seems like outside might be safest from everything that I have read on the subject

@divalounger That's good you can teach outside.

@just4him it is! We are just looking at laying some brick down to make a level space for the keyboard and music stands--I am hoping that I can continue this hybrid model for a while

Maybe a few in person lessons outside might be okay

I am going to try it--and see how it goes--but I suspect that most of my lessons will still be on zoom for a while

Sounds like fun. I like Purcell. I've been teaching "live" at Guitar Center without any ill effects. But of course I'd say go with what makes you most comfortable.

I like Purcell too--although as a singer, I like Handel more--but it is Puccini that I perform most often

@TheHorse If Mozart were alive today. he would be a jazz musician--

@divalounger For whatever reason, I like the Barque era best. OK, Vivaldi is kind of like a blues musician. He wrote the same Concerto over and over, with slight variations. But I love Bach and Handel.

With the Delta variant running wild online may be the better option.

I hope you can wait a few weeks before deciding, if the virus situation gets under control I think that in-person lessons is more interesting.

I hope the performance goes well. It must be a bit difficult singing with a mask on.

Good to see you here again. With the new variants around, perhaps online would be best.
