It is a good thing that I do not go to amusement parks anymore since I cannot afford to enter one of them much less find one in my area. This rescue story comes from Western Playland Amusement Park in Sunland Park New Mexico on Saturday evening. Eight teens were trapped inside of their seats inside of a roller coaster ride that was stuck on the tracks 30 feet above the ground for a period of two hours which must have felt like an eternity for them. Thanks to the cooperation of the West Valley firefighters and the Sunland Park firefighters, they used a fire truck ladder to rescue the eight teens safely to the ground one rider at a time of course. All of the teens who were rescued are grateful that they are safe and sound after a malfunction aboard the El Bandido roller coaster ride. No one was injured in the dramatic rescue which is a relief for everyone involved. The cause of the malfunction is under investigation by the authorities.

@Deepizzaguy I hope they find out exactly what the malfunction is and so glad that they were rescued. That must have been very scary for them.

@Hannihar I am sure that they were praying for help since being trapped on a ride for a long time can be stressful.

@Deepizzaguy I wonder what was going through their minds while they were in that situation.

I don't trust these rides anymore; and I wouldn't ride on a roller coaster anyway! I'm glad the teens are safe.

Have heard so many stories of roller coaster malfunction that I gave up sitting on roller coasters long ago. It is very scary even watching others going high up.

I get scared riding roller coasters myself after a local amusement in New Orleans closed around 1980.

These are the things that make me rethink going on rides like this. Good thing they were rescued but two hours hanging 30 feet above the ground is a long time. Agree with you, must have felt like an eternity for those teens.

@Deepizzaguy I'd go to an amusement park but stick to rides that don't leave the ground.

Roller coaster rides can be scary when a malfunction happens. I am happy not to even think of going to an amusement park anymore.

Wow, I live pretty close to that area and oddly enough I didn't see anything about this in this mornings news on Bing. Those teens are lucky we weren't getting triple digit temperatures. I've never been to that park and now I know I'll never go there.

Sane here since I get scared just riding on a roller coaster ride due to the drop from the top to the bottom of the tracks can cause me to feel sick.

Yikes. That's scary. They should be more inspections on the rides to prevent it from happening. So glad they were rescued and safe from harm.
