As requested by a few people I am putting a photo of Luke on this post. He is the little dog we adopted that had been abused. It took him a while to realize we were not going to hurt him and it has been love ever since. He is a smart little guy. I have never been able to understand how anyone could abuse an animal. Especially one as sweet as he is. I know there are people who have saved animals and took them into their home to love and protect. I would love to hear from you.

Ohh Luke is so adorable!!!!...looking at so many pet lovers on mylot, I never thought that there are people who abuse pets. So it means that abusers are everywhere. It really sad why would some people abuse these poor little animals

Bless your heart! We have also taken in several dogs that just appeared or came out of the woods here. Some were hunting dogs that were "abandoned" and some just appeared. A couple of them were so bad they were skin and bones. I agreel Whether physical abuse or abandonment, I don't see how anyone could do that to a faithfull animal. We kept several of them and they were all the sweetest dogs. I still have one now, little Jessie or "ratdog" as my hubby calls her. Luke looks like a sweetheart!! Give him extra scritches and cuddles for us!!

I sure will. He has quite a personality. I can't stand to see an abandoned or mistreated dog, They were put here to be loved. What a great person you are to take them in.

what a cutie! Both my dogs are saved. You can still tell my dog was beaten, even after 10 years of being our pet and not ever being beat, Bo our Harrier, will pee if you move across the floor to quickly. He used to pee any time anybody went toward him. He has gotten over that part, it really was no fun to bend down to pet him and get peed on

It's true. Even years later you can tell when an animal has been abused. You can't moved quickly around Luke, he cowers down.

he's a little cutie, pet him for me my family adopted a kitten - my mom found it tied in a plastic bag and she felt like she had to bring it home. the kitten had weird legs and back and his eyes had something on them - we took it to the vet and started to take care of him. we wanted to help him and then let it go outside, but we realized that he's never been outside, he was scared of grass and stuff like that now he's our pet, vaccinated and with his passport. sometimes i post his photos here. he looks much better now, after one year spent with us

We've had three adopted dogs and they lived lives to the full.. but yeah, it takes a while to get them to trust humans again after they experienced abuse.. I guess just like us..

When we adopted him he was already used to the name Lucas. He didn't look like a Lukas to us so we stated calling him Luke Lucas. He was soon used to being called Luke.

Awwww He's a cutie patootie!!!!! We adopted two white Pomeranians for about 2 years. We finally had to give them up because one of them kept getting out of our fenced yard; and we were afraid that he would get stolen or hit by a car. Broke my heart. I hope the next owner found a way to keep him in the yard or walks him on a leash.

It sounds like you rescued both. One of our dogs came from someone whose life was being ended by cancer. It was one of our neighbors.
