How do I explain to Kitty that I do not eat Western Fence Lizards?

Kitty brought me another present the other evening: a Western Fence Lizard. Baby Western Fence Lizards will actually sun on your hand, as my littlies discovered the other day. Adult Western Fence Lizards are hard to catch. Note that the tail is missing on this one. That probably means that a bit of a chase was involved. These lizards shed their tails when caught by the same. I am delighted that Kittty is thankful when I give her wet food. But I don't eat Western Fence Lizards. Is it a lost cause?

Snuggle with her, tell her thanks, then explain that the meat was a little tough for your liking. Ask her if she, instead, could catch you some sushi for breakfast.

My Hot Russian Brides have all of my credit cards. How am I going send Kitty out for sushi? Entirely unrealistic, I say!

She loves you. You will never get her to believe that you don't enjoy eating the lizards she brings to you.

Sigh. No matter what language I speak?

@TheHorse No matter what language you use. You just have to politely thank her and dump it in the garbage4 when she is not looking.

Have you expressly told her not to do it?

What a kind cat you have. As others have suggested, just thank her nicely and put it somewhere to be disposed of later when she isn't looking.

All I know is that she was a stray, she is grey and white, she is "fixed," and that she is a vicious predator. Should I be letting her into my house?

@TheHorse I should think you would be pretty safe - as long as she doesn't get ideas above her station. If she does, then you might be in trouble.

@JudyEv She likes to bat my leg when I don't give her enough attention. I've taken to batting her tail when she walks by me with cat aloofness. If she starts extending her retractable claws when she bats me (she's careful not to) then she'll become an outside cat.

Poor lizard. My kitty brings me mice and once a bird. Haven't seen him with anything else.

I doubt there are Western Fence Lizards in Canada. Were I a cat, I would see them as enjoyable challenges. But as a horse, I just eat hay, oats and Apple Wafers (brought my humans), and watch with amusement a cats go about their activities.

@paigea Do they scurry about and do push-ups sometimes?

Poor lizards. They eat bugs and stuff. Tell Kitty that you are full for now. :-)

Cats do not expect that you eat their presents, it's just a present to show you that she loves you.

@TheHorse If you pretend eat, she will bring in more, I would avoid.

Maybe I'll "pretend eat" it next time, like the "ice cream" the kids give me at the preschool.

That's pretty much what I did. With the lizard. And the moth. And the half-a-mouse.
