The past few days we were kind of panicking about our net connection going down. With the impending lockdown, I am sure it would be very difficult to get it serviced from the provider because their field workers will not be able to go out. I tried going to their Business centers only to be denied getting serviced today. As I am working from home internet connection is very important to me and my wife. That is why I was so disappointed not being given chance to have it checked and repaired. I tried buying another prepaid wifi from their competitors and when I got home I am assured that I have a net to rely on. Because of this, I postponed an important online meeting and goof thing the new wireless router made it possible for me to meet online as scheduled in the afternoon. Now I have a backup connection with me just in case I would get another bad service from my current provider.

It's nice to have a back up connection.

Same here. I got a pre-paid wifi modem just in case my main one has problems. Since I'm workign from home, having an internet connection is very important.

@allen0187 I never thought of that since my PLDT connection was doing fine but it just happened when I happen to need it the most. Out of desperation, I decided to get this prepaid Wifi connection just to be able to stay connected.

@rsa101 it might happen but highly unlikely. Most of my friends who work from home have two internet connections, a main one and a back-up one.

You did the right thing. It is good to have a back up especially when the situation is really not doing good

Yup, especially when my wife depends on it & I depend on it. My wife rushed to her school so that he could use the school's internet connection to be able to teach online. I can go to the office as well but I chose to attend to the problem and find a solution to our problem else we would need to go out of our residence just to get a net connection. We are now lockdown safe for now as we have two internet sources and we can comfortably work at home not worrying anymore.

Good thing that you got a back up connection. I have Globe wireless as well. But I am not sure if the sim still works since I have not used it for months now.

After several attempts by Globe to install their wired broadband connection, our barangay officials have finally given in allowing the installers to install it to our unit. Now my connection has tripled in speed now. So far all of us can be connected all at the same time with very minimal lagging or no lags at all.

@jobelbojel I will stop my PLDT by September then I will retain my new connection with Globe. Hopefully, they will provide a better service to me. PLDT has been good with me for the longest time but has gone bad these past few days that is why I switched subscriptions.

@rsa101 good to know. My problem with internet connection in the apartment was resolved when PLDT installed it back in May. But I asked them to suspend this month because I have not used it since June.

I am doing fine now we have disconnected the old line and are using a much better service provider. Although many are saying that this provider is only good at the start. So far they are doing good. I experience downtimes for a few minutes but it goes back to normal after some time.

I wonder why we don't get compensation when telcos screw up our work especially when it's for making money or for our kid's online classes but they are quick to cut service when people fail to pay even for just a few days

True, in the past they deduct that in the bills when there are service interruptions but nowadays they do not do that anymore,. I am just too lazy to follow that up since their call centers are just automated canned responses and they do not have live call center agents taking up calls anymore.

True, I did panic yesterday because it was the last day when we can go out of our place to attend to anything since today we are officially on a lockdown and we cannot just go out of our house to attend to anything we need to unless it is urgent and needed. That is why I tried to find ways how to solve my problem on that day since restrictions were not yet imposed. Good thing I was able to find a solution to temporarily fix my connections issues by getting a prepaid wifi connection.

I'm always afraid of that specially in this covid. You can't just sent a complain so easily anymore since now internet and phoneline are one. My brother exprience high blood because of a suddent disconnection when he's right inthe middle of a meeting. Before we use to have direct contact with the technician, looks like his contact no. change.

That is true. I can understand that in our current situation where we are not easily allowed to get anyone entering our premises because of health concerns it is really hard to. So right after the ecq lockdowns were lowered down I made sure that the installers be allowed to enter our unit. So I have a new connection and now the speed and connection are much more reliable than in the previous one. I will get my old connection to be stopped in the coming days.
