Would you be happy to receive a one-room apartment?

My brother is about to receive a one-room apartment. My parents want to gift him an apartment, but he doesn't seem too happy. I am sad because I have to live with my parents and I don't have any money. I should be happy for my brother, but I can't. He doesn't know if he will use that one-room apartment or not. He plans to rent that one-room apartment and he will use the money for his needs. He pays rent now. If I was him I would be happy to receive an apartment. He doesn't seem very thankful or happy.

I think it is a very nice gift. Maybe he has a lot of things to think of. You know, sometimes it is not just about the apartment but something else.

An apartment is something huge for us. Not everyone is so lucky to have one.

@dya80dya Yes. I know your point but there are people who are not satisfied with something like that because something else is bothering them

@m_audrey6788 Yes. My brother wanted to leave this country. If he leaves that apartment will be in vain.

@dya80dya If it was really big and had a porch and if I knew my cat and I would be happy there then we would consider it. It sounds like he does not want it so he is not happy either. Maybe the studio apartment would be small so he wants a bigger place. Studio apartments are small here and we need at least one bedroom apartment with room for our stuff.

@dya80dya A studio apartment has no bedroom so the bed can be by the kitchen or in the living room. A one-bedroom apartment has a separate room for the bed. I am putting a studio and one-bedroom apartment here with you. I hope these two pictures help you understand the difference between the two.

I think it's a one-bedroom apartment. but I didn't know how to spell it in English. Can you tell me what is the difference? Can you show me a picture? It has 30 m².

@Hannihar I understood what you said. It was my mistake and I will correct the title of my discussion. It is a one-bedroom apartment, not a studio apartment. Thank you.

If I didn’t have kids and it was just me or me and my husband then I’d totally take an apartment for free. Technically the house we rent we live there for free. We pay for the electric, water, other utilities but the rent to the place none.

@dya80dya because it’s my husbands grandparents house and they don’t use it. They use to have a bigger house little bit down the roads from us but they sold it and kept there other two house. Ones down by the beach’s of Carolina and the other is in Kentucky

He doesn't have kids so this is perfect for him. Why is the rent free? This is great.

that's so sad. do you know why is he like that? if he doesn't want it, why doesn't he gift it to you? why didn't your parent gift you that apartment? i'd like to receive one, but that's probably not going to happen + i'd rather earn and save up and buy it myself.

He wants something bigger and he is not thankful for what my parents can offer him. I am not sure why they prefer him. I live with my parents and I would be happy to have this kind of apartment.

@dya80dya unfortunately, it's common that parents "prefer" sons over daughters. i hope things get better for you.

I would be really happy. First, because it's a gift! I don't even need to buy it. Second, I don't use much space so it's more than enough for me.

Maybe your brother wanted something else. Did he ask your parents what he really wants?
