I saw an ARNP today. She examined the cyst, measured it, took a history. After consulting with my doctor, they decided that the first thing is to get me on an antibiotic. Continue with warm compresses as it has begun draining on its own. Then as soon as my primary has an opening, she will remove the entire thing. I am glad I got her opinion. The other doctor I saw for walk in did not even offer any antibiotics. In this case I think it is important to have them, though usually I do not want to take them. When it is removed I do not want any infection being spread into my blood stream. So, examined today, scheduled for removal, prescribed antibiotics.

It was a good idea to put you on antibiotics. After the removal of the cyst, an infection could set in.

@GardenGerty it had to be not infected before it can be removed, right?

@GardenGerty But without antibiotics, the infection could spread to other places.

@Tampa_girl7 For me antibiotics are usually pretty effective because I take them so seldom.

@spiderdust I have another one that has not gotten inflamed. I will have it out this summer. I wanted to do it for Christmas break but the dermatologist could not fit my schedule.

@GardenGerty It seems like a reasonable course of action for a cyst, especially for diabetics.

This one is infected and very large, like the size of a half dollar. I have been running a fever from it.

It was on my back on the left of my spine and almost to my waist. It got all swollen and seemed to move up. I am glad I had it removed.

I never feel real convenient with the walk in clinic or substitute doctors as they do not know my history.

The idea makes me nervous and a little queasy, but the cyst makes me irritable, so this is the best.

@GardenGerty I am glad it is shrinking on its own and will be removed completely from your system. I hope you will be ok after all that. You certainly have been through the ringer.

@Hannihar With my relative that I am thinking of, she never tries to do anything in advance, jjust waits until they are a problem and has them removed. I have another one and I will get it removed before it is a problem.

Glad that you found a good doctor to take care of..... It all depends on the doctors, how they guide us.... Some doctors really fool us. As these things happen in our country.
