A survey asked for my address...

I just tried to do a survey on Swagbucks. After answering some questions it asked me to enter my name, date of birth, and my address. I tried to proceed without putting in my address but it wouldn't let me. I caved in and entered my address. After I clicked on the button to move ahead in the survey I was disqualified. I wonder why the heck they needed my address for...

To sell or to share with other survey sites or partners.

First it asked me if I am familiar with e-cigs and the like, and if I am familiar with Juul. I am as hubby uses it. After some questions related to vaping it asked for my full name, DOB, and address. After entering that that's it. I hope they are not gonna send me anything. Or share my address with anyone. But no guarantee of that.

@lovebuglena I am curious why they asked you for your address and then disqualified you. I hate when they ask personal questions and then say you are not a right fit for the survey.

I have no idea why they did that. I wish I hadn’t given them my address.

@Hannihar they shouldn’t need my address unless the survey is for an in-home product test use.

@lovebuglena I hope it went away with the survey. I hate when they ask personal information and wonder why they do it and who they really are.

They where probably looking for a peculiar area to survey for. This is common just like I’d they are looking for age ranger or I’d you have kids there fall in a certain age rage to look at new toys coming out and weather they would play with them or not or how much a parent is willing to spend if anything at all on it

Asking for my address is something that thankfully doesn't happen often.

This week I tried to do a survey and the first thing I was asked was something like this: You told us you have a kid under the age of 18... I never told them that. And they never asked for that info.

@lovebuglena Yes I have done them in past but wont anymore. I do not know why they need that info

@RebeccasFarm Yeah, especially if they will just disqualify you right after you give it. Kinda reminds me of some employment agencies where you come and you give them all your info and then you never hear from them again.

I usually just close the survey when I am asked that. But there have been instances where I just gave them the info. I think this survey was gonna pay 100 SB or something like that and that's why I chose to just give it.

I have come across those surveys on Swagbucks over the past few weeks. I would never take a survey that asks for my name, email address, or address. Even if the survey site is legit, they still can sell your information to other marketing and telemarketing companies. The last thing I need is to be on more mailing lists and phone lists. I get enough scam calls and junk mail as is already.

@lovebuglena I just recently did a survey for an in-home test of jeans. I was a little hesitant about giving my address, so I used my PO Box instead. The first pair of jeans arrived yesterday, and I have to wear them for a week and then rate them. Then they’ll send me a second pair of jeans and I’ll rate them as well. At least I get to keep the jeans.

@moffittjc I never agree to do an in-home test of anything. How did the jeans fit into the P.O. Box? Nice of them to offer you free jeans in exchange for a review. Do you know ahead of time what product they will send you?

I regret now giving them my address. Nothing I can do about that now. I hope I won’t be mailed anything or that my information will not be given to others. But who knows?

That's a toluna survey! I write the short form of my place or just the area! Don't give full address! Better you open your account on Toluna itself!

@lovebuglena It is also a survey site!! It is also good, as good as SB! They have a tie-up, I don't know if it is the correct word! But in India site, there's a toluna survey on Swagbucks..

I had something like that this morning, although they swore they weren't going to give the info to anyone else, I just am uncomfortable providing too much detail online. They don't need to know all that.

When they say your personal info won't be shared it's probably less likely that it will actually happen. I've done surveys before where unless I agreed to third-party cookies they wouldn't let me proceed with the survey.

Some places require a physical adress so they know they are working with a real person. Everytime I cash out on Just play, I have to enter my address so they'll pay me.

Wow! But that's a little different. But in your case, this is done for confirmation so they can pay you. They shouldn't need my address to let me complete a survey.

The survey was keyed for a certain area of the United States. When your address wasn't in the area they wanted to test, it kicked you out. Personally, I would have entered a fake address. The worst that can happen is the survey kicks you out. *shrug* You'd be no worse off.

If they wanted to confirm area where I live they could've just asked for my zip code. That's what surveys usually do. No need for an address. I should've given them a different address.

@lovebuglena I could be mistaken but that's still what I believe they wanted the address for. Yeah, something to keep in mind for the next time it happens.
