Covid self test kit

We're required to do swab test every two weeks now. Due to miscommunication, I missed the test done by the company. So I had to do the test with my own money. Great! I went to town again to do the test. We can get a test from the clinic or buy the self test kit. I bought the self test kit. I can test using saliva or nasal swab. I'm not going to poke myself so I did the saliva test. But the self test kit is a loophole, in my opinion. I can do the test, or not do the test and just lie about the result. No one can tell. Anyway, this is the result. It's a negative. Two lines mean positive.

If you lie about the test you will get into trouble as if it is positive you cannot ignore it.

It's true. But lots of people are desperate these days. They're willing to lie about it.

@allknowing, so true, it's not good, what if the person is tested positive and the result given is negative due to lie.

First time I've heard about a self-test kit. indeed, you can do that but it won't do you good.

People can be crazy and do things their way. I think they'll lose more than just their job if they got Covid due to their lie.

You can now. Though it's better to get the test done professionally. The self test only provide simple test and won't be as accurate. But it's good for early detection.

@prinzcy I heard from some people that it's very uncomfortable because they poke far into the nostrils . and they can accidentally go too far.. I would be very hesitant to undergo that test..

My sister's employer also require this test, I'm not sure how often they have to do it though. And I'm wondering about the same thing, how are they going to verify if the results are genuine?

Most test will be done at the company free of charge. I think they hire someone from the clinic to do it. But it's costly for the test so I'm not sure how long companies would follow this rule. Also who'll provide the genuine result so they can continue to operate.

@cahaya1983 it is. But I'm not sure how much it cost for the company. We can just buy the kit and keep one at home to do pre-test ourselves.

@prinzcy But this is the same one you can purchase from the pharmacy, right? I think it costs around RM40 per kit.

I heard those tests aren't very accurate. When I had the swab, it goes way up in the nose and have to twist and turn it for five slow long seconds. It burns. Glad you are negative.

I did nasal swab once. The nurse was pretty good so it's not painful.

hmm that's weird. we have similar tests here but you have to do it with blood and it gets red up to certain points if you're positive, or if you had covid or if you're don't have it.

That's quite complex. I don't think it can be done using self test kit. How many time do you have to take the test?

25 Aug 21
@prinzcy you don't have to take the test. we're "free"

Here in singapore we use swab test for the nose. Bus captains have to swab test every day because the number of victims had increased to 253 per day, all came from the bus !
