What a drag it is getting old!
There are lots of reasons. For instance, I see my doctor so much we should be dating.
One of the other things that reminds you that you're getting older is when the people who've enriched your life with their art pass away. I think all of us over 50 had a severe reality check this week with the death of Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts.
That reminds me: I've never done a Rolling Stones countdown. I'm not a huge fan, but one of the things that makes a band so legendary is when people who aren't "huge fans" can still find ten songs they love.
So I'll start on the road to the tournament this weekend tomorrow....along with this countdown. Meanwhile, here's the song that gave us that iconic line, "What a drag it is getting old."

Not a fan of Rolling Stones and never listened to any of their albums. But i know how famous they are and that makes them legendary coz even people who never listened to them have heard of this band one way or the other. And yes i heard about the passing of their drummer.

It is sad about him and I read something interesting about him on Wikipedia. He was totally different than Mick Jagger in that he was married to the same woman for 56 years.

Oh, yes love that song and if you have any more of those you'll get an overdose no more running to mother's little helper they'll just help you on your way to your busy dying day and that is just from the lyrics still running in my head, fortunately, my helper was plain old aspirin what with all those problems in the younger days

I was a fan right from the start and was crushed when founder Brian Jones drowned in his swimmng pool. (Never did like those Beatles.)

The Stones were legend and yes it is a reality check that we're getting older. We're oldies but goodies as they say

Even though I am not a Rolling Stones fan ( I am a fan of the late Donna Summer), the passing of Charlie Watts is a reminder of that old saying "Sobering truth and eternal hope."

You hit the nail on the head. I always feel a small part of me is taken away when an artist from the 60s or 70s passes away. I'm not a Stones fan either; but I probably could find at least half a dozen songs that I like.
