Are you thinking of the 'Ber months?

They are right around the corner. I know around this time of year (and perhaps as early as July) people will start to consider their budget for presents. Personally, I don't believe anyone should go bankrupt just trying to buy cheer. Yep I said it. Buying cheer (good cheer, joy, good fortune etc).
I've started to consider and I have started to buy but only because I found things that a friend would love. I am going to do that this year, buy things as I see them up until December. I have a few birthdays to consider too.
Oh and if I can, I want to buy things from thrift / charity shops. It's not the price of the item, but the thought that counts. If it's in good condition and if it can be used than why not, right?
Where do you shop for the holiday season?
What else do you consider in the 'Ber season? (Saving for holiday foods, for instance)

@CarolDM I am not a big fan of sports overall. it's something I will get into if I am in the room with someone watching it though.

@ScribbledAdNauseum There are a few here and there. Some areas have more than others..depending on the types of trees planted. It will be a blessing to have some cooler weather.

@prashu228 i agree with you there. Plus we can find things at better prices if we shop before the holidays. Prices increase during the months preceding the holidays.

I am proud of myself for doing this. Usually I stress at the last minute.

I believe I"ll gather for Christmas, but I am not sure I'll get together with people for Thanskgiving. My friend's father is getting married in October and I have chosen to just send a gift. Too many people close to me have contracted the delta virus. It's the closest it has been and it scares me.

@LadyDuck I talked to the lady who is getting married. She told me that they understand but also that they require masks at the wedding. It takes very little for this virus to spread and I've hard the delta variant is much worse. We are choosing to go to the stores when there are less people and use hand sanitizer between each visit. We have to be careful.

@ScribbledAdNauseum We prefer not to see people, we cannot be sure if they are contaminated or not, some have no symptoms, we do not feel safe.

I always look forward to the 'bar months, as it means I survived another brutal summer in Florida! Plus, those are my favorite months of the year, because of the weather and the holidays.
Believe it or not, I've got most of my Christmas shopping done already. Immediately after last Christmas, I had a ton of gift ideas floating around in my head, and decided to jump on them before I forgot about all of them. I ended up writing down a pretty good list, and then slowly over the course of the year I have been making the purchases. The hard part has been hiding everything in my house where my kids and girlfriend won't find them!
The majority of my shopping this year has been online, but I've also popped into a few brick and mortar stores to grab things as well.

Oh yeah, there are only so many ways to hide things in the back of the closet or garage. I need to start picking more things up for people. I have a few birthdays to consider too.
We had a really mild winter last year so I suspect this one will be a little more brutal. I'm hoping so as I love the snow.

@moffittjc That would come back to bite me here. I'm sure it'd end up being too obvious for my family.

@ScribbledAdNauseum We’ve had a very mild summer so far, so I’m hoping it translates into a mild or cold winter.
I’ve learned that the best way to hide something in your house is to hide it in plain sight! Lol

We only have one gift card to buy for our little housekeeper. We don't have anyone else to buy gifts for. When I think of the "ber" months, I think of "brrrrrrrr"!!! YUCK!

Oh yes, I know it gets too cold and snowy in Ohio. I am sure she will appreciate the gift.

I am looking forward to it in one way, but in another I'm not. This summer has been miserable despite the fact it hasn't been that dry. So I'll be looking forward to more barable tempures. But, as for the holiday season...I don't know.

I get that. Holiday seasons bring a mixed bag of emotions for me too. It's the months I start feeling depressed the most.

It seems like the winter months should be the -ber months so we could more appropriately call them the BRR! months.

I'm ready for the "ber" months but more for the change in weather and kick this heat and humidity to the curb.
I haven't even really given a thought to the holidays yet. But, it does make sense to start shopping early. I do believe that it's the thought that counts no matter where or what you give.

I just happened upon the two things I got for a friend so far.
Oh yes, this heat has got to go! The humidity too. I want weather that I can open my window for!

Oh! I remember someone telling me that last year. Here we have Thanksgiving before Christmas. A lot of people decorate their homes (for Christmas) the weekend after Thanksgiving.
